The Bunkers actually did appear in the pilot episode of The Jeffersons. They had an engagement party for Lionel in their deluxe apartment and the Bunkers were there.

Michael is wrong, his math is wrong and he is confusing Archie. Archie paid Jefferson with a counterfeit bill 20 dollars and received an excess of 18 dollars. That is, Archie did not pay at all, he owed Mr. Jefferson the excess he received 18 dollars + 2 dollars for the work. That is, he owes Jefferson 20 dollars and not 40 dollars, he paid him 10 dollars so he owed him another 10 dollars. Michael thinks Archie owes Mr. Jefferson $22, it doesn't make any mathematical sense

I was going to college and working at a big hotel in Charlotte N.C. many, many famous people stayed there And they were all very pleasant. The only one who was rude is the one that played Michael on All in the Family. Maybe with his very famous Father made him think we regular people are not worth being civil to other people
