Those pipes sound absolutely fantastic! I can't believe I didn't really use the grove lately, it ads so much to the cohesion of the song, another day, another leaning 🙂 Thanks!

I am super impressed by this series. Even moreso since this episode after your vignette about your personal journey. I am so much in agreement with your observations about identity and your previous comment about how well a person might know themselves in their 20s. I, for one, did not. Without some real process of self discovery, how does anyone understand whether any expression is their own or what is impressed upon them by others. Describing your neurological differences, I am amazed that you were able to engage with a classical training. I used to learn pieces of recorder music by ear and my teacher caught me out by putting music in front of me that I didn't know. I never got any further with the dots and lines and squiggles but I had/have a very good ear. You have great organisational skills. My observations, so far, on your use of Ableton, is that it compartmentalizes musical order, enabling one to make relatable components and then marry them together as you show here. In the early days of midi, before cubase, I had a bedroom studio with midi instruments on different midi channels, controlled by an Atari computer with 1 meg of ram, considered pro equipment in 1985 🤣😂I'd previously had a rock band and it was a little bit like telling people what to play. It's exactly what became Cubase a year or two later and from those ideas came, among other things, Ableton. Seeing the way you work with all of the amazing modern features of Ableton and explaining them so well is great. Thank you!

Even though I have watched your other video on the Groove pool and even watched you demonstrate it live, I still feel pretty mystified about it. Basically, I would like to understand about which one to pick! I know how to apply them. Just don't know how to pick therm. We have some 1/16 ones, some 1/8 ones. Why would we want one over another? I see they have different genres. Is that what we just look at? Don't know. Also that is helpful with the percussion. With the Day 2 challenge, I started thinking about my guitar harmonics as percussion and perhaps was going a step ahead! But I'm not that great at playing harmonics on my guitar. So maybe now I will try looking at Ableton percussion instruments. See if one of those accomplishes what I was trying to do with my guitar.

I would say that "hearing" groove and understanding it in a music, is now something you can learn other than active listening practises. This, same as mixing, comes with years of practise. So if you still can't hear it, it's ok. It took me years. (So no, it's not the genre it's "hearing" the groove that is suitable) You can go steps ahead! Remember my videos are not the "rule" of this workflow, but the inspiration and structure you can get back to when you feel lost.

A day late (very thankful for the breaks so this is possible!), but day 3 is done, and I went back after doing the drum extras and I'm happy with those too now! Also, your song at 9:00 is sounding awesome. I can't wait to hear the full thing.
