Excellent work. You have a bit of a mixed media thing going on here, with those pencil highlights. The results are amazing. Thank you for the free lesson.

I've been airbrushing for a couple of decades. I am just starting over as I was forced to stop using solvent based paint for health reasons. The water based world is a whole new ball game. I feel like a total newbie.

What's the difference between solvent based and water-based as far as health precautions?
@scottyboy6269 Жыл бұрын
@@waltergrayer7703 Just going off top of my head Solvent based is far more toxic, and would require a vapor level filter on your mask eg P100 or you're inhaling lacquer/acetone/many other solvents in the mixture then 2 part clear coats require full face covering as they will seep in through your eye membranes and can cause all sorts of nasty things like chemical sensitivity causing migraines, death, respiratory system trauma etc. Water based you can wear a charcoal filter mask and I haven't heard of any crazy over the top healthy conditions.

This has become my default for airbrush advice, I like that it is well though out. I only paint plastic surfaces, have you ever tried these illustrations colors on non absorbent surfaces? Or on primed surfaces? Would it bead up or go on flat and dry? I am thinking that this paint, being so liquid, makes it easier to do very delicate painting. Perfect for thin lines that fade out, very undefined lines. I want to find a paint I can build up slowly to a still transparent layer. Trying to simulate dirt and grime on vehicles, in panel lines, and streaks from rain and rust on plastic that is primed and painted...

not sure. the binder is kind of weak in the illustration line so it might rub off.

Createx offers many different additives you may use with their paints. The Bloodline set of illustration colours actually comes with an adhesive promoter that is apparently designed for latex applications.

Second question, in your experience, is the PS771 the cheapest airbrush that has precise paint release trigger point? I have the H&S Silverline and I also find the paint releasing at different trigger points. Have to tried any other cheaper ABs that engages the paint flow reliably? Not for sharp lines, just 2mm fine mist lines

the ps771 is an incredible airbrush for the money. extreme precision. it's basically a micron for half price

I’m new to art and airbrushing. Been using the cutting out of printed photos to use as a stencil method. Your skill lets me know just how far I have to go. Thank you making the effort to make these videos mate.
@mwebb-01 Жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with paper stencils. You don't have to use the grid type. I use a projector or butcher paper. As long as the end results are what you want how you get there doesn't matter. :)
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
I agree, nothing wrong with using the stencil method if that's what you like. The only reason I use pencils to draw in my lines is because it is easier for me. Everyone has a different way to paint, and no approach is wrong. Keep at it man and best of luck!

Hey brother Mark, I realize that you have your own style. I truly love it I’m wondering if I can get my Portraits to look as close as possible to Realism as Dru Blair’s. But in the long run, as I learn, realism painting, I will create my own style. Is that true I realize that each artist has their own style of airbrushing realism portraits. So what I’m saying I guess I shouldn’t get so caught up in trying to make it look so close. To Dru Blair airbrushing, portraits but create. My own style or my own style will come with time is that true? I guess you probably would say Dru Blair been doing this for over 30 years and I’ve been doing it maybe this is my second try at Irish Kit eyes. While I am learning portraits give it time learning your mistakes. Enjoy your airbrushing and don’t beat myself up so much. Stick with it and you will get it eventually and should I. Get so caught up in trying to make my irises look just like Dru Blair’s. Help me please brother maybe I’m just killing myself with discouragement too early and not giving it time.
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
These are great questions Michael. I'll do my best to give an answer. The only person who can paint like Dru Blair is Dru Blair. We all want to paint like someone, but what happens is that we end up becoming ourselves. I don't know Dru and never met him, but I bet he wanted to be just like some other artist as well. His trials and errors made him who he is, which is a master in is own unique right. Just keep on painting and your own style will develop, just as his did. I know how you feel and for me it is always there. Every painting I finish is a failure to me. I'm never happy with it and want to change a million things, so I stop. That feeling that I failed is what makes me start a new painting thinking that maybe I can make this one a little better than the last. So my advice is to finish a painting (good or bad doesn't matter) and move on to the next. No matter how good you get a painting, I can guarantee you that you'll always want to be better. So keep at it my friend and best of luck to you.

Can we airbrush with acrilic paint. I have small bottles of acrilic paint but the result is bad. It paints but also spitting, if I may say. I know I'm a newbie but I've try lowing the pressure, raising it, but does the same thing. Is it the bad quality of the airbrushs because they all do it. I have two same Mastercraft pen size and a 0.8mm Yosoo pistol. This last one I bought it at $64

Superb as always! I see you're using illustration colors and referring to them as transparent colors. Because of spraying lightly? And will Wicked Moss Green work instead of the Illustration? Maybe a dumb question but I don't want to waste paint. 🤥
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
the pigments in the illustration line are transparent as well. Wicked moss green will work just as well, but will be a bit more difficult to erase.
