I can definitely confirm that before I began to separate my males guppies into smaller water with lots of fresh water changes, they would stay small and not develop properly. Only one male at a time would begin to develop colours, so once I took him out of the grow-out tank with the siblings, another would then develop colours and so on. So I just began always removing the largest guppies (male and female) and those who were beginning to show colouration, until they were fully developed, then would add the ones back in together when I was ready for them to breed (line breeding only, didn’t do colony or in-breeding at all.) I think the larger, more developed fish begin to emit hormones into the water, which inhibit the smaller ones from developing as fast. Making sure their water is top-quality is most important to grow them out to good condition, along with food and exercise.

Nice guppies you have there. This is what I had in mind in feeding, what do u think? For fry 1st week (once a day, small quantity amount). For fry 2nd week (twice a day). For fry 3rd and all the way till the end of 3rd month (3 times a day). 4 months onwards - male twice a day, female 3 times a day. Why? Male tummy is smaller, so is best not to overfeed them. Food wise, fully Hikary fancy guppy. No bbs. WC once every 3/4 days, with 30% WC - not over 50%. As i put all tanks inside the house, so added lights and low tech frogbit .

Let's say I have full-red and they have impurity a few "black streak" on their tail. Will salt take the black-streak way? My substrate, is really dark so they may be trying to Camouflage, by darkening. Any, suggestions? Go-full white out fish tank? Better water parameters? Add carotenoid color boost? Cull and Restart?? just cull and restart?
@albertsguppyadventure42933 жыл бұрын
No sir, full red with dark spots are considered full red cull or full red wash.. base on my research only native guppies are capable of doing camouflage fpr survival thats what happen to a snakeskin guppy experiement before where they develop snake skin pattern on wild for higher chance pf survival..
