You're one of my favorite KZbin presenters. I thoroughly enjoy your presentation and your photography. The lighting you capture is wonderful. I'm a 30 year Fuji USA employee, retired about 15 years ago. I switched to Nikon then and enjoyed shooting with a full frame camera. But, alas, I got old and the camera got heavier so I switched back to the XH2 for the 40MB. Just started to use the camera and your work is truly inspiring me to go out and shoot. I live in Arizona and we get beautiful light, as well, but we're in day 26 in a row of temps over 110° so shooting will have to wait a bit till it cools down. Look forward to more of your videos.

That first pano is really cool! Beautiful subdued pastel colors and the far background -- combined with the near cliffs -- makes it look like a long spindly finger pointing to the left... "it's THAT way..." 🙂 I really like this shot!

That's exactly one of the main points, why I bought the X-H2. As former film photographer, I like the possibilities of all these well known aspect ratios. Only the X-PAN format do I miss. Other brands don't have all these formats, even in the flagships.

It would be nice to get the x-pan crop, I believe some of the gfx range have this, so hopefully we will get it with a firmware update soon 👍

Definitely a useful feature that I wish more cameras had! My camera doesn't support different aspect ratios so I use a plastic tool called the Artists View Catcher. It's also useful when you just want to preview a shot without getting the camera out. You could just make some card cutouts too, I think that's what they did in the past.

Thanks Ian I've not really used the crop much because I usually only shot in raw. So image size/crop is greyed out, you need to shot jpg+raw to get the crop option. The jpg is needed for playback in camera and in Lightroom the jpg is destructed, the raw file is none destructed.

Nikon Z7ii still does crop destructively which caught me out when I first shot with camera over 2 years ago. My Fuji Xt4 allows non destructively. Why will Nikon not change this in firmware? With horizontals in the image shoot in portrait format as it is then opposites often work well.

I like 16:9 for horizontal shots, 5x7 for vertical shots and 8x10 (4x5) crop solely for portrait photography.

It is a personal preference but I don't care for 16X9. I shoot in 4 basic formats: Square (1x1) , Normal 35mm (2x3), Wide Pano (2x4.5) and Double Wide Pano (2x6). My preference is 2x4.5 because it can be printed tall and wide without looking like a thin ribbon. I try not to make the vertical shots too tall - 2x4.5 is about the max. And, for me, I don't have that many opportunities for really tall vertical shots.

The crop ratio is displayed on the lcd then applied to the raw file in lightroom. its non destructive though, so if you select the crop tool you will be able to change the crop back to the original raw file size.

Great video, something I’ll give a try when I go out tomorrow. Out of interest what drone were you using and what mode were you in? I get very jumpy videos half way through a clip jus jitters, any tips on drone settings?

Thanks David, i use the Mavic air 2. It could be your frame rate, if its binning frames in playback you might get jumps. I film at 24 frames per second which is equal to my export settings for my KZbin videos 👍
