great look, A variationwould be to change the 6x to bleached muslin this reflects less from the skin or soft frost which is very dense but reflects from the skin........

OMG finally!!! The video I need! I want to control lights by using artificial lighting in the studio… but at the same time I want them to look more natural. Thank you for this video!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

Very nice BTS. Saw you are based in Toronto and I knew I had to subscribe. So, hello from next door, Mississauga. Will check your channel for more. Very attractive model in this video. Obviously, great lighting. Love the big scrim.

Could I have like the same result, in a 24m2 square room with only this light with the umbrella difused with the difuser? thanks!

What power are you using on your strobes? I saw 7 and 7.4 for the second setup on the strobes behind the v flats but was wondering mostly about the main strobes :) thank you!

How do you catch focus if your image is too dark? Like idk what it looked like with iso 100 at f8 and 1/200 but that sounds like a pretty dark looking image preflash, how do you get your camera to focus so you can take the pictures? I shoot on a R8 and I did my first studio shoot the other day and my settings were similar but the image was pitch black so my camera couldn’t catch focus for when I introduced light with the strobe flash.
@KarolinaPran Жыл бұрын
Do you mean how to focus before you take an image and strobe flashes? If the studio is a bit too dark in terms of available ambient light in order to focus I just use a modeling light on the strobe and that helps me to focus before the image is taken with the flash

Awesome work! Question what is the difference of using the umbrella with the scrim vs using an octobox soft box?
@KarolinaPran2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely use both, I kind of use them interchangeably depending on what gear I have with me that day. I just like the white umbrella a bit more cause it gives me more of that natural light feel in general

Love these bts videos Karolina! Quick question on lighting the backdrop, what's the difference in effect when using two medium white umbrellas on either side versus bouncing light off v flats?
@KarolinaPran2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Honestly you can do it both ways, I have certainly use both of these interchangeably. I just make sure that the backdrop does not have very visible 'hot' spots if I am looking for a more even look. I feel like v-flats are an easy way to light your backdrop without any additional tools and most studios have them, so I tend to use whatever is easiest and gets the job done. Hope that makes sense!

Great video! Questions , is that a Benq monitor? If so which one is it? And how do you like it? I’m looking to find a good editing monitor
@KarolinaPran2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is :) It’s SW271C. I love it so far, I was over the glossy imac screen, this is just so much easier to work with.
@lgm93242 жыл бұрын
If you don't need 4K, consider the BenQ SW2700PT; it has the same sRGB and Adobe RGB coverage, and is more affordable.

This is a great video! Love the results with the soft light. How different would it be if you would have used a silver umbrella. Also, when you edit do you use dodge and burn all the time
@KarolinaPran2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would suggest watching any youtube videos where photogs compare silver and white umbrella differences side by side, the silver will always be a bit harsher and contrasty, so while amazing in some scenarios, not particularly helpful when trying to create soft/ natural light looking light 😊 and yes, I dodge and burn on every image I edit

Hi. I tried this set up except for the backdrop lights(so with only 1 main light), but the pictures look kind of flat and I was wondering what I was missing. Is not using the backdrop lights make the pictures flatter? I want to get really soft light like yours but it doesn’t look that soft.
@KarolinaPran Жыл бұрын
Main things to look out for achieving softness are using white umbrella, also use diffusion material on it since you mentioned your images aren’t looking as soft. My scrim fabric is also pretty thick, it’s Matthew’s Silent Gridcloth. Now when it comes to flatness, backlights are going to brighten up your backdrops not necessarily make your image less flat. Try having your strobe a little higher than the model and also use black v-flats, they absorb the light and give definition instead of bouncing the light around. If you do all of this right, you should be getting better results, but all of this it takes practice and analyzing your shots and seeing what could be fixed, it doesn’t happen right away. Hope this helps
@shinseungjin Жыл бұрын
@@KarolinaPran Thank you so much for the detailed instructions!!! I was playing around until now and I saw your other videos and I think I found out the solution. Bouncing the light to the ceiling then to the scrim fixed everything! I’m so excited because I’m shooting tomorrow! I think I saw all your photoshoot bts videos and it really helps me. Thank you so much!!
