Not your average Lightning KZbin video. This is next level. Love it.

I was thinking about the practicality of this; but when you said this can be good if you only have small modifiers, I can definitely see that. Most people aren't going to have access to really big modifiers, and I think even without the scrim, the light bounces enough to still be pretty soft

Love these videos that are so practical, straight forward and don't drag on forever! in under 4 minutes you gave us 3 different looks and set ups and the results were amazing. Something I can take away and start implementing in my own studio photography. Thanks!

I missed you!! Nice to have you back and yes agreed there are not many videos that talk about scrims, yet a lot of photographers I assist use them. I am looking forward to some new content 🙃

Very nice video, glad you are back, hope to see more. There are some videos demonstrating scrims. If I had the room, and the need, I’d get one for sure. Proof that large sources close to a model give soft light. Not for every setup, but when appropriate, can’t be beaten.

Hi! I love your videos. 😍I have a question regarding scrims. I have the Lee filters paper roll that I roll out, so it's always straight down as opposed to slightly tilted like in this video (because my scrim is still the original roll and not put on a frame). Does it matter for the lighting effect on the model if it's not slightly tilted? Does it have to be to achieve this effect?

Do you need the umbrellas ? Can I just point my strobes at the scrim and then shoot directly at and through it ?
@KarolinaPran Жыл бұрын
You can so without umbrellas as well, I like them just cause they spread out the light more

Great video as usual. Probably KZbinrs don't really talk about scrims as it does require a bigger space than what their audience can have access to. I have one of those smaller manfrotto scrims and it's my go to light when I do larger portraits.

Pran, Can I know what your size of the umbrella? Usally what size of the umbrella do you use?

The ones in this video are 33''. The ones I use most ofter are 41''

Hi! Thank you for this. Does the type of strobes matter? Also what was the power adjusted to?
@KarolinaPran Жыл бұрын
Not really, you can use any strobes as long as you have enough power from them to expose your image properly. The power adjustment will be different for every strobe depending on their max power output, so you just have to test and see :) Just remember when shooting with a scrim, light will be diffused but a ton of light will be stopped through the diffusion, so you will most likely need higher power strobes, for example mine are 800Ws

great video with great direction on light. What is your favorite lens in the studio? I would assume the macro lens and do you do shoots outside on location?
@KarolinaPran2 жыл бұрын
I use 24-70mm now more than the macro. And yeah, I sometimes shoot outside, I showed a few images in the beginning of the video :)
