Tryfan Hike Gone Wrong: Battling The Elements And Forced To Retreat!

Do it yearly...always found with Tryfan, if on the Northface and given a choice of direction... always take the left option. Don't think I've ever followed same way up after first 15 minutes... that's is until the last 15 minutes if you go via the choke stone... then after that always take the right options! Looks like a great day out :)

There's so much to see on Tryfan, and so many routes to take. I went left then followed Heathers Terrace round to the stonewall then up onto Castell Y Gwynt in search of the cantilever rock. Didn't see it. (didn't see anything 😆). I'll be going back specifically to summit via the Northface in a few months. Might get some slightly better video. It was a great day, there's something a bit special when you feel like you have the mnountain yourself.

Mornin' Andy. It was. Knackered when I got back down, but was buzzing. Shame the weather prevented me from doing the route I wanted to, but safety first.

Hi Duncan. All of this vid was filmed using the Insta360 X3. Unfortunately I have no eye for photography, and no idea how to set up a proper camera. The Insta lets me film everything, then reframe from the 360degrees and hopefully choose a shot that's not totally terrible. I also use a gopro 7 hero black, a dji mini pro drone (first edition) and my phone (oppo find X2 pro). What are you using?

It can get quite hairy up on Tryfan. Somebody was taken off by helicopter on the day I was filming. I guess you have no plans to return :)
