Trying a MOBILITY AID for the FIRST Time (what I learnt)

After a series of falls, I decided it was time to look into trying out a mobility aid. It's something that I've had on my mind for the past few months and something that I've been putting off. After reading a million horror stories online about people using mobility aids, I thought it would be good to try it out for myself. Apart from actually needing one to help prevent falls, I thought that any takeaways could be useful for people out there who are on the fence about trying one out.
At the end of the day, what matters most is your wellbeing and if a mobility aid will improve your life, then it's at least worth a shot. I was definitely nervous about trying a mobility aid for the first time but what I took from the experience is that people don't care as much about you as you do.
Thanks for watching!
Kalvin :)

My name is Kalvin and I'm an Australian guy in his mid-20s with a condition called FSHD. It is a form of muscular dystrophy which affects various parts of my body, limiting my mobility. I was diagnosed as a 14-year old and have only recently accepted it as part of my life.
I will be documenting my journey living with a progressive disability, whatever that may entail. Expect to see a whole lot of disability-related advice, updates on how I'm dealing with things, activities I pursue and a whole lot more.
My goal with this channel is to hopefully inspire people with disabilities to go out there and give things a crack. I aim to spread some awareness about muscular dystrophy and build a community of people to ensure that no one feels like they're fighting this on their own.
Stay strong ♥

Sorry to hear about your fall Kal it must've been a nasty shock. The mobility aid sounds like a g idea. Don't care what others think - as you said, isn't their business anyway and I'm sure people will be supportive

Unsolicited product recommendation, feel freento ignore: for outdoor walking hiking poles/ski poles might be helpful for you. I have a family member with progressing balance problems and skipoles have been huge for her. You can use just one like a cane, but you can also use them symmetrically as a pair

Thanks for the suggestion! I've always been curious as to whether hiking poles would be a good fit for me. I definitely think they could be worth looking into, especially with walking on uneven ground. Do you have any advice for what to look for in a pole? I appreciate the comment :)
