I have an albino Netherland dwarf rabbit and bought this cage for him over a year ago. I built it myself with no help and I’ve had problems with it whatsoever. The only thing I did was cover the wire bottom parts so that it doesn’t cause any damage to his feet. He’s litter trained so he goes in his litter box so I don’t have to worry about needing the wired bottom anyway. Great cage!

Not only genetic or sanitary. Also breed dependant. Rex furred rabbits are prone to sore hocks. Every Rex breeder I have owned has had sore hocks. Clean cages, resting mats, proper wire, different types of cages, different lines from many different breeders. And I've bred them for like 9 years.

I'm glad your experience was better than mine. My polish rabbits fit well and have enough room ( I have to separate, I have a buck and doe). But mine leak!! I had to buy rubber mats, because they leak so bad. The trays just don't seem to fit right. I don't have that exact model but it similar.

I like the cage because of how easy you can access every area of the cage to clean. Mine is not made in a proper way so I can get everywhere and clean and I can appreciate it about this product

I was really excited to see you post a review on this cage as we have this cage for one of our rabbits and I really love the cages you build for your rabbits. I was very curious to see how you thought they compared. We bought our cage for two outdoor rabbits, a bonded mom/daughter pair of what we believe are Rex/New Zealand mixes. We thought it was a great starting cage for pet rabbits but not as practical for outdoor/homesteading purposes. I have seen wonderful set ups with the cage being used indoors combined with pens. The biggest downfall I would say would be the thin wood, the construction was great but my rabbits were big chewers and quickly chewed through the bumps on the ramps and the door separating the top and bottom floor. We also opted to remove the wired floor in fear of sore hocks as our mama rabbit grew even bigger. As we expand on our rabbits we definitely intent to follow your style for cages and grow out pens. I adore all of the cages you have built so far. And this is a great review for this product! :)

I’ve been searching for an enclosure to let my beardie have a break and b able to run around a little more. I just wonder how much heat the top would hold in if I put his basking light up top. I know he probably couldn’t live in this because I’m not sure it would keep the temperatures he needs. It does look like a good way for him to get a break and have exercise. Anybody out there use this for a bearded dragon ???

We have one by them for our Dutch and lion head buns. It’s already falling apart 5 months in. I hate the trays too. The wood swells with moisture and it’s hard to get out sometimes and even harder to get back in.

You can DIY the wire bottom take out the staples and put wut u want and save that for another purpose down the line, if it’s large enough for the adults at all.

The one I bought is from the same company. Mine is the one that's a got like two stories and two small runs on each side And then they can run through under the hutch so basically it's like one big run but like on each side. I mean it's big enough for one rabbit if it's a small rabbit. It is really good quality better than I expected when I ordered it. but I feel like prefab ones are always too small for pet rabbits especially larger breed. Thankfully I just have mini lops so it's big enough for one of them, But if I still had my old rabbits It would have been far too small each one of them was they were the same body size and weight as my 15 lb cat. I have no idea what breed they were though. So basically if you have a smaller breed they're okay

also i know there is paint or stain made with a chem to taste very bitter to prevent chewing. i think rca or pioneer used it for there plastic knobs to prevent toddlers from chewing on them. not sure if rabbits find it bitter but may be worth a shot.

We recently got a female Holland Lop, I think that’s what it’s called, I was against it until we got it home and she became a cool pet. To our surprise 3 weeks of having this rabbit, she had 3 babies while we were at a pumpkin patch. Would you recommend this for 3 bunnies once they’re grown plus the mama? I’ve only dealt with big animals.
@TealStoneHomestead3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think this hutch could appropriately hold 3 rabbits. Maybe two small ones if they were given the option to free roam, but not as a standalone cage.
@artfromjustme3 жыл бұрын
Can you leave different litters of kits together? Up to what age difference between the litters, can you leave kits together? And how many cages should I leave free at minimum for kits when I breed 3 does? (I have dwarf rabbits)
@TealStoneHomestead3 жыл бұрын
You should preferably not have different litters together. Keep mamas and kits separate from one another. I would always have several cages ready for weaned babies.

Move the eyelet and string to the outside and the rabbit will not be able to chew the string.

Why is the rabbit's ear flopped? Poor structure? I've seen heat make the tips droopy but does it make the whole ear flop? My rabbits don't get that bad since we're in a cold climate.
