Ok, watched it all now. It's a shame about the food. The usual buffet food looks better to me than this did. I'd probably want to get the cheapest cabin with a private toilet. Because I'm old and have to go several times a night.

That was a fancy suite. The bath was huge, especially by Japanese standards. First time I've ever watched someone on KZbin carry a conversation with a curtain! 😁 Like most cruise meals, the menu in the dining room is set, although at a higher standard than the buffet. I thought it was odd that they served the miso soup at the end of the meal. Thanks for sharing these trips. I've watched from the start and enjoy your videos.

Is it only a year? It seems so much more than that - so many trips, adventures, curries. Thank you once again for sharing it with us. The suite looked fantastic and so much room! The bathroom was enormous and the bath looked wonderful. I do hope they provided enough food, although I was a little disappointed you couldn't change anything on that menu. Good to know that you have your priorities right about getting some curry once you arrived in Niigata! The curtain will be lonely without you

Thank you very much for a year of amazing videos! The suite looked amazing, I've been in hotel rooms that aren't half as nice as that one. I liked the bathtub in particular! I do wonder how they handle food allergies on the grill. If the meal is included, I would expect to be able to eat it, and other than the first and the last dish served at dinner, the rest of them would kill me dead.
@ej3016
@ej3016 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing - all the money for that suite and yet no flexibility with meals - someone else described them as underwhelming - I could do without the attempt at a high end restaurant all together - don’t include meals in price of ticket and everyone eat when / where and what they want (or can) - as someone with food allergies I would have had to pay additional cost to eat at the cafe - customer service as far as meals concerned two really big thumbs down👎👎
@tmntleo
@tmntleo 2 жыл бұрын
@@ej3016 Or do include the meals in the price, but make it an option between the fancy meal and a meal ticket that you can use at the main restaurant, so people who like the fancy dish can go there and people who aren't really fussed / have allergies can get some free food at the other place so they haven't lost anything.

Yes, I have realized watching these that if my husband and i ever travel to Japan we will probably have to do self-catered or at a minimum check out our accommodations very carefully because of food allergies. Until then I am so glad to take it all in through STJ.
@yvonnestrong3856
@yvonnestrong3856 2 жыл бұрын
The eating arrangement is very strange, because usually when you book the most expensive accommodation, you'd expect to be given the maximum number of choices, not be locked into a set menu that you might not be able, or just might not want, to eat. Surely they could give you the choice of booking the room with or without the set meals so you could use the regular restaurant for dinner and/or breakfast if you wanted to. They must be getting complaints about this forced set-meal thing.

Oooooo. Fancy dining and accommodations this time around That dinner was completely worth it, although didn't seem very filling for you. Not surprised you went for the ice cream afterwards. LOL! I'm surprised you don't have another option for breakfast. The room, however, was spacious and I would even say luxurious by comparison to other ferries you've stayed on. Still, it was an experience with the visiting seagulls and fly away curtains. Happy anniversary!! Didn't realize it until you mentioned it. :)
