Almost as famous as Raki in Turkey, what is Ayran, and is it any good? Find out with me as I try this milky substance and let me know in the comments if you have had it (or something similar) before.

Yes the fresh one is a different and much better thing. It is "pumped around" and therby will be fermented a bit with the time. Served cold in metal cups is a tasty enjoyment.

😂 That's what the friend I was with in the video said, fresh was better. Perhaps, but I think it may just not be my thing, considering I'm not a huge fan of yogurt drinks in general and especially with the salt. But maybe, in the right mood and environment, and with no plan to eat, I may enjoy it...

There was some drama a few years ago when a tea company was fined 200k lira because a rapper "insulted" ayran. Erdogan had called ayran the "national drink", because the pious drank ayran, and never rakı. 😏

🤣🤣 That's a ridiculous lawsuit. I guess I basically just called it the national drink too, but just below Raki 😆 What do you think of Raki and Ayran? Fans of either? I obviously didn't care for the ayran too much, but I have been drinking a lot of raki. Even though I am not a huge fan of anise and hate black licorice 😆 When in Turkey, I guess

@@Gventures I like Yeni rakı. The thing about salty sour yogurt drinks is that they're everywhere, even in Iran and Afghanistan. If I have to drink it, I drink it with mint.

@@brendantravels Yeah, I had a salty lassi in India once, hated that too 😂Apparently they have something similar to this in Greece as well. I'm sure it's in many countries, but I'm not drinking it! 🤣Had a salty milk tea in the Himalayas of Nepal as well. Nope. Every response I have gotten from my reaction to these salty milk drinks is laughter though, I think they expected it (at least the locals I was with in India and Nepal, they almost waited eagerly to see my face twist up) 😆

This will never replace yogurt in my book because it's salty... really not enjoyable and for me personally, and hard to drink. I bought it once and never again.
