For starters, to have a real poutine you need specific gravy and cheese curds Nanaimo bars are from British Columbia names after a city on Vancouver island Canadian maple syrup comes straight from maple trees and goes through a complex process, it is sweeter and tastes more like maple unlike nasty American maple syrup Lastly, bonjour is French for hello, some French Canadians say “à votre santé” which means cheers

I moved to America 11 years ago, and I always disliked syrup, I tried it once and never used syrup ever again. But when I went up to Vancouver for a concert two years ago, my step dad asked me to get Canadian maple syrup for him. I tried some after a lot of convicing and I LOVED IT! It has a different consistency, it's amost like a bit more watery not as thick, and has a light sweetness to it rather than overly sweet taste like the syrup here in America.

It's cool that they are acknowledging us Canadians, but bring someone in who actually knows what's up... like smarties in the US are called rockets in canada, "Canadian bacon" is ham and real "Canadian bacon" is pemale bacon or just regular bacon, they have tim Hortons in northern cities of the states (Ohio, buffalo), there is no difference between American real maple syrup and Canadian real maple syrup but it is more important in canada because the maple leaf is on our flag...

My Canadian thoughts: That is not poutine. Tim Hortons should only be taste tested with double doubles or REAL iced capps. The best maple candy is the white creamy kind, made of maple syrup with a little butter. Her explanation of the "6ix" is inaccurate. I never fought with my friends over coffee crisps on Halloween. They always ended up in my neglected, last resort candy craving stash. I also hate nanaimos.
@alyssamcdonald58026 жыл бұрын
I feel like everytime Americans try canadian food they always don't get it from the proper places. Like honestly if you want a good poutine anywhere in Quebec is where to get it. And with Tim Hortons they never try any of the actual good stuff.
