I'm completely new to cross stitch and turns out you're not supposed to show patterns publically - which makes sense! People sell those! So I've blurred out parts of the pattern in the video but I did a messy job so if you're wondering what's going on - that's why :)

Beginners tip! You can put little dots on the spots you need a color. The thread covers the dot and it's faster and easier to see when you're doing it!

You can do it!

Your cross stitching looks great! I do it all the time and honestly I never read the instructions, I figured it out myself. If you don't use a thimble I may suggest it because it can help you push the needle through in some areas and saves your finger! You wear it on the middle finger of your dominant hand and use it to push the needle through the fabric. It should be loose enough for you to remove easily, but tight enough to where if you hold your finger upside down and lightly shake it it will not fall off. Also, I never do the half stitches, I just do each stitch as a full stitch individually and have never ran out of thread, so that's another way you could do it if half stitches are confusing! I didn't notice really any mistakes (though I am by no means an expert) but I would suggest cutting your string if you go from one color block to another a more than about 3-6 spaces away (those strings can get in the way sometimes for me)
@deviledpot8o3 жыл бұрын
Oh and if you have trouble keeping track of stitches you've done you can color over them in a highlighter! That's what I do and it allows you to still see the stitches but you know what you've done. Also, the way you would do your own designs would be similar to alpha patterns! You design pixel art or find a design, buy aida fabric (the cross stitch fabric) and buy strings to match! You do your design on the loop then cut your fabric down to the size of your frame (or loop if you choose to keep it in the loop!

i cross stitch too! embroidery & stitching are to me what bracelet making is to you :) this looks amazing so far and especially for your first piece!!! the only thing i would suggest is looking into tutorials for a loop start, it makes it so you don’t have to knot your threads AT ALL it’s seriously a game changer and better to start now at the beginning of learning. this is such a cute pattern & you can find ready made kits on etsy and amazon, but there are also tons and tons of pdf patterns available for sale and for free. you would just have to choose the floss that you like and buy it separately. DMC is probably the most popular floss brand for cross stitching. i find that those circular embroidery hoops are kind of hard to work with, i would also look into getting yourself a q-snap frame sometime down the line. they’re essentially pvc piping that holds your work better, reduces creasing and are relatively cheap. (i would also love to see more cross stitching videos!!) 💕💕💕

I’m 16 and have been cross-stitching since I was about 7. I also do a bit with friendship bracelets and that’s how I found you. I would love to see you do more cross-stitch content. I also wanted to say that you did a fabulous job with that pattern. The only feedback I would give to get neater back is that if you have to skip more than 3 squares I would say just cut the thread and start in the spot you need. Other than that great job. Btw I love your videos. ❤️

I absolutely love cross stitching and completely understand the feeling of it “taking you away”. I’ve been doing it for a while now and have even started to make my own patterns through a software program called WinStitch. My favorite patterns to make are wifi passwords! Cross stitching someone’s wifi network and password make great gifts (especially for weddings) and saves that person the trouble of constantly telling their house guests how to sign on! Also, I really like the work of @tinymodernist - she has great patterns for all levels :) good luck on your cross stitch adventures!

Hey Masha! I used to be obsessed with making friendship bracelets but moved over to cross stitch about a year ago, as I enjoy it more! Just a heads up for the future, you really aren't supposed to show the cross stitch pattern, since it isn't free. it allows people to copy it without purchasing, which of course could be frustrating for the designer! The pattern you chose is so cute! Would love to see more cross stitch content in the future!

4:03 you have to fold the fabric to find the center me: yes **creases fabric** me: **screeches in ironing later** also: the fabric/canvas is actually called Aida cloth pronounced EYE-YEE-DUH or AID-UH like the word band-aid I thought you were going to tie knots on the back (to make the thread stay while knotting) but i’m glad you found tutorials on youtube. I used to do that when I first started embroidery years ago 😅 (when i was 11 or 12) & it sort of makes the finished product ✨bumpy✨ I’d say you did a great job on your 1st time cross stitching!

I don’t know if this is a good tip, but maybe after you knot a stitch mark it off with a pencil so you don’t get confused? I think this helped me a lot, it prevented me from getting lost in my pattern but it’s ultimately up to you! Great job! 🥰💕

I've been cross stitching way longer than i have been knotting bracelets, my mom and i have very neat backs to out work to the point where you can kind of see the pattern on the back with little mess! You did so good for your first attempt, and i can definitely see you getting better! I was wondering why your fabric was popping when you pulled through, you dont have to worry about tying your needle to your thread! As long as you have a tail end of thread through your needle, you should be fine!
