Trying extra ultralight for the first time - I get the hype!

I've been eyeing an extra ultralight setup for some time now after seeing all the fun poeple seem to have with it and when I saw the Savage Gear SG2 Micro Game 0-2g spinning rod I had to give it a go.
For the first session with the rod I used some heavy flies that I tied for perch and trout fishing and I was pleasantly surprised by the casting distance and feeling when retrieving the lure.
What was really exciting was when I caught a small perch and the sensation of the fish on this rod. It was really fun and I definetly understand why people love extra ultralight fishing. Will try to get out soon again when the canal has heated up a bit to get some more footage of this setup.

This is why I love ultralight fishing and why it's almost all I've done for a few years now. I own one rod rated as "super ultralight", but I'll look into this one as well.

I guess extra ultralight and super ultralight are the same thing, i dont know if there is an official word or anything. I was really surprised though by the difference of this rod and say a 1-5 or 2-7g rod. It’s gives way more feeling when playing smaller fish. Cant wait for my first trout on it :)

People don't realize catching a 2 pound fish on an ultra light with lite line can feel like a large fish on a heavy action rod.

Exactly! Each type of equipment has it’s ideal usage and fishing ultralight is great for these smaller waters
