Trying FIVE Different Udon Noodles in Hawaii

I was in Honolulu Hawaii and went to Marukame udon to see why there's a line out the door. This place had some of the best udon noodle soups i've ever had!

I'm impressed that you could eat so much udon in one go. 20 bucks for all of that is a bargain. I usually have to pay around 12-15 Euro for just one bowl in Germany.

The last time I was in Honolulu, I stayed at the hotel across the street from Marukame. I went there almost every day when it wasn't busy. The cold udon was great for the hot weather.

After watching this vlog I decided this was a place my mother and I needed to eat at. We were heading from Australia to Hawaii for a 6 day adventure in January 2017. We were lucky enough to be staying a short 5 minute walk from the restaurant. It took an hour to finally get in but, woah! it was worth the wait. Thanks again for your great reviews.

"Bukkake" means "pouring vigorously onto something" in Japanese. In this case, it is talking about process of adding the soup to the udon....On the other hand, "kake" mean "pouring" The kake version is simple. It is the soup udon. On the other hand, the soup of bukkake is much thicker which makes it almost like a sauce.

Their Yaki Niku udon soup is what I measure all soups against now I'm never been able to find one I enjoy as much it was soooo good! But fyi for next time, one of the guys that works there told us he rips up a tempura chicken and puts it in his soup the crunchiness and chicken flavour took the soup to another level

when i go to narugame udon. there is a stand where you can add scallion, sauces,etc free as much ss you want. thats why they give you plain broth. is there no such thing in hawaii?

I stayed at the hotel a block behind this place. Stay near by! I almost had this everyday for breakfast! I recommend going at maybe 8 on the weekends, never go at night near 8:30 to 9 because the line is around the block.

I was here not even 2 months ago. I believe he is eating at the Waikiki location because it looks very familiar plus i sat in the seats along the wall just right behind mike. Will definitely come back here for some delicious Udon Noodles. There another noodle shop called Ramen Nakamura that is at the end of the Waikiki shopping street right by Hard Rock Cafe. Have yet to try it though, I will save that for next trip.

This just happened today. I took a break from my Keto diet. Saw this place and realized Mike did a review here. During lunch line was long, so I got in line at 6:30am. They open at 7am. I could only do two bowls. I know my limits. They had a limited time only Kailua pig udon and tried the Nikutama Udon with tempura calamari and fish. So good. Mike you were on point with this review.
