It's fun. I've taken the shinkansen numerous times. One time on the way to Tokyo I was reading part of Steven King's dark tower series, the part that was about a murderous AI controlling a futuristic Bullet Train. Total coincidence, but it made the read all the more immersive and enjoyable.

Describing the Green Car on the Tokaidō Shinkansen as "First Class" might be a bit of an overstatement. In my personal opinion, it feels more like a level below Business Class, somewhere between domestic flights' premium seats and Economy. Specifically, at best on a level similar to JAL's domestic "Class J".🙄

For a country that eats such tremendous amounts of seafood - especially raw seafood - it must be a huge challenge in those temperatures to avoid food poisoning. Fish goes off / becomes bad so quickly in the heat.

I'm Swedish and I have lost count of how many times I've gotten food poisoning in Europe. How many times have I gotten food poisoning in all the years (a little less than a decade) I've spent in Japan (or Asia in general)? Two. One of those times was my own fault. The quality of food and how it's handled (even in places like McDonalds) in Japan is pretty high so food poisoning isn't really anything to worry about.

@@NekoArtsI don't know if it's because I extremely rarely get to go out to eat, due to being extremely low income, but even when I consume raw eggs and flour here in the US, the only times I remember getting ill from food was due to the high amount of grease in the stuff that made me sick. Greasy foods do not agree with my stomach. But from things like salmonella? I don't think I have ever gotten sick from that. People constantly fear the supposed dangers of raw eggs and flour, but I can guarantee those dangers aren't nearly as bad as people not washing their hands after going to the bathroom or handling dirty food.
