Well if you know the fundamentals (shape, value, basic color mixing) you're gonna have very little trouble in grasping a new medium. The funny thing is, most people don't know their fundamentals too well. They only know the symbols that represent something (like a nose, and eye) and then they render those in a very particular way they've tried/seen before without actually knowing "why" it should look like "that".

@@jesustyronechrist2330 oil paints are very hard to use, they don’t dry for days and you can’t simply ameliorate them easily. They don’t mix the way you’d want them to, they don’t go on a canvas the way you’d want them to. Without proper practice, you can not just make oil paintings irrespective of how finely you’re thorough with the fundamentals. Gawx has a purely gifted talent and he practices it beautifully. (Also, knives, if you don’t know how to hold them then you can’t use them 😂)

First off, I want to say you did a wonderful job with your self portrait oil painting. But there are a couple of things I want to point out since this is your first time using the medium, as reference for the future: #1: You don't have to wash your paint off of your pallete after one day. Unlike Acrylic, I've seen oil paint last of a glass palette for a few days. Even more if you take the paint you've already mixed and form it into a paint ball. #2: Please be sure to do your research when it comes to cleaning your brushes and disposing your paint and paint solvents. Improper disposal of Oil Paint can be both harmful to the environment and to the pipes in your house due to the toxic chemicals (depending on the paint brand you use also factors into this). I hope you keep using this medium in the future for your art!
