Where have I been? And what was wrong with my Inline Skates, that I had to order new ones? Find out in my latest unboxing video, featuring three (or rather two) 3x125mm skates for fitness, recreational, long distance and/or marathon skating:
Powerslide Swell Carbon
Powerslide Arise Marathon

Hi and apologies for my late reply. I'm glad to hear, you still enjoy your Arise. I'm very happy with mine, as well. They're just amazing in terms of speed and power transfer. At the same time I wouldn't want to give up the Evo skates either. They're so much more versatile for practicing sharp turns and slides, for example. Luckily I could get rid of the smell :D

Just skated on a new pair of PSs for the 1st time yesterday myself. They seem to fit well. Already heat molded them. These are hockey skates, but similarly stiff & linerless. It's a fine line between just snug enough and your feet going to sleep - fine tuning fit literally comes down to small differences in sock choice. Looks like you put old wheels on them and haven't torn off the tags, so if they don't work maybe you can still return them. Hope they work out. Nice looking color combo.

A belated thank you for your comment :) I can totally confirm what you said about fine tuning the padding with different socks. They can make such a difference. Quite astonishing. You're also right about the tags, which I finally removed, because I kept the Arise skates. Not what I expected, but I'm always open for a positive surprise :D

I’m an online store owner. When people buy multiple items with intent to return them kills our profit. Skates shipped internationally to receive them from the manufacturer then stored then shipped to you. Good video, but I hope everyone is conscious about store owners. Ive got the Arise SL. On 20 mile skates I do lose some skin around the cuff with the grippy material. Socks don’t help, but i do skate barefoot. I remove my cuff. I heat molding helps.

Based on the research I did, I bought the seba marathons and would highly recommend for someone with a wider foot. I've had no foot discomfort at all. I've put a bont 3x100+1x90 frame on the boots and it works perfect for nordic skating.

Oohhhh. Where was this video 3 weeks ago? I’ve been debating between the PS Arise skates and the RB E2s and I finally decided on………the E2s! But with 110mm wheels. I don’t plan on doing any long distance skating but I do have the option to get a different frame if I do decide to do more distance. Please tell Claudia the videos with her experiences and opinions helped to sway me. I like that I have the option to remove the ankle cuff so I can “relive” my speed skating days. 😂 Sadly I haven’t had an opportunity to try them out yet since it’s been raining every time I plan to skate. I don’t want to trash the bearings on their maiden voyage!

Also a belated sorry for not answering earlier. Great skate choice. I hope you still enjoy the E2. I totally would have kept this model, if only they had my shoe size available. Don't hesitate to upgrade the "Supreme" wheels, though. That makes such a difference. Happy skating :)

How does the speed skate E2 feel compared to a regular speed skate? I bought the E2 to eventually take off the cuff and get into speed skating once my ankles get stronger.
@jsonlee01
@jsonlee01 Жыл бұрын
@@rururu5630 The best analogy I can come up with is a dedicated speed skate boot is like a lightweight sports car. It is built for speed and not for comfort. The E2 is a luxury sports car. It’s still fast but it’s more comfortable but it adds weight and loses some handling. I have t taken the cuffs off yet. I haven’t been skating enough to build up my ankle strength. They are definitely more comfortable but because of that you lose the “connection” with your feet and the boots. I don’t have any intentions of getting back in to racing. I want to be able to skate for fun and still be able to go fast. These skates meet my needs.

@@WitchonWheels Yeah. I really like them. Comfortable and supportive. Unless I'm going for a long skate, I wear them without the ankle cuffs. I did swap my frames out though. Vinegar is THE method to get rid of the smell in any shoe/liner. I had it happen to my trail running shoes and it worked like a charm. I don't find the arise as good as it's predecessor grand prix. For long distance i'd either choose bont semi race or cadomotus agility 3 out of the current models available. Bont is one of those companies that one ups everyone else and offers 4 width's per size, and a semi custom option aswell should you need 2 different shoes. I'm pretty much sticking with bont these days for anything speed / distance related. For anything else the trinity system is really hard to say no to, only downside for now is the lack of high end speed frames for it.
@WitchonWheels
@WitchonWheels Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips. Vinegar makes a lot of sense. So do different widths for speed skates. The harder the boot, the more you depend on a tight fit. I agree, especially as a small skater, I appreciate the Trinity mounting, which keeps you as low to the ground as possible, even on big wheels.
@shredfreak83
@shredfreak83 Жыл бұрын
@@WitchonWheels let anything that smells sit in a bucket of vinegar (especially winter gloves are notorious for developing smells if you use them through rain) and wash them right after. The only real alternative to trinity (at least concerning ride height), is the mixed wheel frames (110-100-110-110). It's not a common thing anymore wich kinda sucks. For the low cut speed skates the LGO''s are pretty cool with the hydromolding. Eo skates sell these and still manufacture a mixed wheel frame. Although in the case of 3*125, your shoesize is the determening factor for the length of your frame (like ice skates work basically), ranging from 13" to 11"8. The 12.5" on the arise is ok'ish for sizes 40 to 43. Powerslide doesn't seem to understand this for some reason. I still don't understand why the arise exists. compared to it's predecessor the grand prix the wheels & frame are a serious downgrade but the price didn't go down for some reason.
@timmorphine
@timmorphine Жыл бұрын
@@shredfreak83could you elaborate on the frame part? I'm considering buying a 3*125 frame for long distance workouts. How is the Elite cast frame a downgrade?
@shredfreak83
@shredfreak83 Жыл бұрын
@@timmorphine cast frames are lower quality & cheaper then alu extruded frames. the old model had a 200$ frame attached to it with matter F1 wheels. the undercover wheels aren't bad per se, but definatly not something i'll ever buy again for long distance or speed. it's fine for city skating but in the 125 category the hydrogens pretty much reign supreme in their price category, while mpc/bont is best in class high end. I still have the 195mm mount version, and i can't understand why the arise exists. only reason i can think of is lack of profit on the last grand prix skate (wich was trinity mount).
@timmorphine
@timmorphine Жыл бұрын
@@shredfreak83 this is what I heard about the differences between cast and extruded. But can you feel the difference? Is it the weight? As for the strength I think if I don't jump from a staircase it should be fine.

Hi Michel and apologies for my late reply. In case you haven't decided yet: The Hardcore Evo is more versatile and suitable for urban, slalom and marathon skating. The Carbon 125mm is more like a fitness skate, with a much softer upper material and less supportive in the front foot area. That's the main difference in my opinion.

Hi and a belated happy new year to you as well :) I can only answer a question like: What's the best boot for a certain purpose? To this day I've never regretted buying the Powerslide Hardcore Evo. It's the comfiest, most supportive and most versatile boot I've ever tried. It's great for fitness, long distance, slalom, urban,... The Arise Marathon has a different and slightly more narrow range: definitely marathon, of course, relaxed long distance trips and maybe entry level speed skating. Probably the Arise models with a plastic cuff are more versatile, but I quite enjoy the forward flex. I still have to wait and see what happens to the stiff and leather-like padding on the long run. Sorry to hear you have a similar problem with the dissolving padding. The trade-off for more comfortably padded boots is probably the fact that they have a shorter lifespan.

In your opinion , what are the best skates for long distances with comfort and high velocity ?
@WitchonWheels
@WitchonWheels 2 жыл бұрын
That's not easy to answer. I can only talk about two carbon boots from personal experience. The Powerslide Hardcore Evo is versatile and can be used for long distances with a long frame. It's very comfortable and well-padded. After skating plastic boots I enjoyed the power transfer of the carbon shell and additional speed. The Powerslide Arise Marathon feels less comfortable at first, with a thin and rather hard padding, but with some heat molding you can adjust it to your foot shape. There is some trade-off in terms of comfort compared to the Evo, but you get a notable amount of additional power transfer and speed. If skating fast is a high priority, for example in a marathon event, I'd recommend the Arise. For spending the whole day on your skates, I'd pick the Evo.
