Helped me see that there is much more to life than my broken relationship. Made me realize that I wanted to focus on what *is* rather than what is not. But it takes time to get to that point.

Distraction till it scabs over. I literally went back to school just to keep myself busy. And rearrange your furniture, change your perfume & maybe wear your hair different. Visual differences help make us feel like we're moving forward.

When I went through my breakup (my first ever long term relationship. 3.5 years, lived together, survived covid together etc. felt like a husband) The best thing I found was 1. Doing things for myself that I was too anxious to do by myself before. Solo dates to museums, to cafes, going life drawing, picking up new hobbies and learning new skills. 2. Meeting new people outside of ur circle. For me it was casual sex/ hangouts but I talking to new people and learning how diff people have diff perspectives about the world and life was really helpful. You have to be open to the idea that u could be wrong about many things and that you can CHOOSE what u want to believe. 3. Find other forms of expression. I love makeup and clothes SO MUCH but taking a step back and finding things that make me feel good about myself that come from within myself is so much more powerful and permanent. I started writing poetry and painting again and performing on random open mikes and just doing shit that I never thought I would do. But I was so hell bent on not falling into a deep depression (cus ive been there throughout my relationship) and i wanted yo prove to myself that i made the right decision ending that relationship and that I can grow so much more outside of it. And i did. Because i DECIDED to and i stuck with it. Obv i have my down days and its haunting at times. But im so much happier with the person i am today than who i was back in that relationship. So now when the haunting memories come back i can say "okay, but look who Ive become as a result of having had that relationship and then coming out the other end." I hope that this helps someone x you're stronger than u think but u gotta direct ur energy in the right direction and kill old habits by replacing them with new ones that make u proud of urself everyday. Even if its something small like cooking a healthy breakfast everyday.

My advice is focus on forgiving yourself, oftentimes we hurt more because we feel we took part in letting ourselves be hurt by others, whether that be by ignoring red flags, or trusting someone too much, but all experiences that come and go ultimately serve you if you’re willing to grow from them. Distractions are good but don’t be consumed by that idea because it turns you away from actually focusing on your overall mental and physical wellbeing. Take as much time as you need, healing is not a linear process.

You need to wear the right undergarments for different styles. You would also have to find a good seamstress to alter everything to fit. It's the basics of well fitted clothes. I think everyone should at the very least learn to shorten hems and sew on buttons. I'm barely 5ft tall, flat chested and some junk in the trunk. I have to hem, trim, take in/out and add darts to all my clothes. Anything else more complicated are sent to be altered.

Whenever I had breakups, Id try to remind myself that my grief was for the lost future together that I had imagined more than it was for the person themselves. If they weren't happy together then they weren't happy. There's nothing I can do to control someone else's feelings and I do not want to be with someone who does not value me as I value them. If i accept how they feel then its easy to see that even if I had convinced them to stay we never would have had the future I wanted. And I am so glad I was able to let go of all those relationships, because it lead me to the wonderful man I married.
