Be thankful you have the full frame dump trailer! I used to haul this stuff on 39ft frameless and would make you pucker up when load would hang up and trailer would start swaying in the wind. Love your farm work 👍👍👍👍

Hello Chris, Those Demco trailers are amazing when used properly. I'm surprised Mike didn't warn you about setting up the tractor to pull away at a 30 degree angle before you dump so the tractor pulls the trailer away from the pile when it's dumped. With your end dump trailers, I used the tailgate to slap the trailer when you pull away to shake the material stuck to the top of the trailer. May sound silly but it works quite well. Thanks for posting.

A tip for dumping a side dumping. Turn to the left so after you dump when you back up it pulls you away from the pile instead of over it.
@oldretireddude20 сағат бұрын
Can you dump the side-dump with the tractor turned more away from the dump area? Maybe drive past the dump area slightly then turn hard driver and back the tractor into the dump-spot? This might allow the tractor to rotate the trailer tires out and away from the dump pile as you pull away.

🤫🤫Trick for side dumping is to slightly jacknife tractor on dumping side so you can back trailer away from what's being dumped👍👍
@KevinHeadlam-TasmaniaКүн бұрын
I would position the trailer with the rear axles at the dump location and the prime mover moving away from the dump line. Stop, Reverse on lock until the prime mover axles move only the front of the trailer is in position to dump (- you still have weight on the drive to aid traction). Dump and drive away - because of the jackknife the prime mover's tyres are not chocked wit with load spill and the rear axles are pivoting away from the spill

Pros and cons of a side dump vs tail dump. Cool!
@studiosoftmorecambe687917 сағат бұрын
In that instance farmer Chris, I see disadvantages of a side dump trailer. One suggestion would be to turn the tractor unit, 45 degrees when you do a right hand dump. That way, you could pull away from the heap rather then try to drive through it. 45 degrees right would allow you to see the dump and then you could back out.

A lot of guys around here use belt trailers to haul chicken litter and it works good I hope to get one some day but I’ve used a frameless end dump to haul some chicken litter last spring and it was some wet heavy manure it slid out of my dump pretty good but my dump also has a liner in it which I think helps tremendously…keep the videos coming

Chris, if you were to turn right just as you are coming to a stop to unload, then unload, then the truck would be pulling trailer away from product at an angle. That may help to be able to pull away from the heap. Great video.

@edwarddherde9536Күн бұрын
@@farmerchris1 I could see where that might be a better fit for grain transport but it could be a maintenance nightmare got to love the simplicity of gravity
@CrewsyКүн бұрын
@@edwarddherde9536 No equipment eliminates maintenance issues. Might be different but they all require maintenance and different risks for each one. On road construction here it is rare to see a trailer that is a belt floor (live bottom) trailer because the safety outweighs the maintenance.

Oh my, I understand having trouble with the first load, not understanding the trailer. But after that if you drive truck any at all, you know to angle your truck before you dump and then you can back out of the problem. You still don’t wanna angle it too far, but that is the beauty of a side. You can angle it some and not worry about tipping over.

Here you go again, reminding me that I need to load out the goat manure from cleaning the old buck barn, and move it down to where we'll need it. (It's warmer here, but the tractor I have to use doesn't have a cab, so the warmer isn't all that much of a good thing when loading dusty dry manure.)

Dump until the material just starts infront of the trailer tires. Then pull foward a few feet and get the trailer tires on the material before you finish dumping. Then you can usually pull away from the pile. And it kicks away from the side you are dumping lass chance of tipping on less stable trailers.
