Trying out the Rolled Hem Presser Foot on the Brother SE1900

You can sew a stitch on and make a thread tail. Then put it through the tunnel and pull the thread tail as you go,

Hi Jeanette. You have to double roll your fabric prior to putting fabric in foot 😊

Gloria. Yes. She already had the fabric on the foot. I find it difficult to use. I wouldn't recommend. I will definitely be using my serger for this.

I’m making lap scarf and embroidering on them for the women of the church. I need a thin rolled him. I will try practicing on the se1900. I will probably stick with the serger right now. I think the fabric should be lighter.

I have that same presser foot package… haven’t practiced with any of the “special” feet or watched the cd… after watching your video I went to MadamSew KZbin channel and there is a more detailed video… from the video there are two separate feet your end result is the other foot “flat hem”… in video she shares if fabric is not properly positioned in “rolled hem” presser foot you will get the “flat” instead of “rolled” hem… hth

You are correct about the difference between a SE1900 rolled hem and the Serger rolled hem.

Hey Jenette. Sorry you are having trouble. I think you are holding your fabric too flat and you need to hold it up some and more towards the left. For a rolled hem on your server there is a good video by Jennifer Moore on the sewing report KZbin channel. I also think you have a DVD that came with your serger which can help.

Yes you need to hold the fabric up and to the left. It is a great foot!

Double fold your fabric (finger press) first and smoosh it onto foot. A straight pin really helps getting it started and positioning correctly. Pull on thread tail a little to help it start. Once started it will feed very well. Sorry CD didn’t explain that.

I am not sure, but aren't you supposed to start by rolling the fabric twice. Like if you maybe press 1/4 " then fold over 1/4" again to start. Then the foot feeds the rest fabric thru.

Hi Portia, I tried rolling it over but it always gets misaligned. I will definitely do another video on this. I'm not getting up. I am learning a lot of what not to do thou. I will be sure to share in the next video.

Hey 👋 I own a different brand of those sewing machine feet for my SE1900 also. I have tried this feet before some years back and got it to work. It frustrated me so much that I have not revisited. Maybe after seeing you I may revisit. I found others who it was like slicing cake but my experience wasn’t like that😢 I see jailove71jailove gave a great tip. Thanks for sharing … FIESTA 🪅
