Trying out the STIHL FSA 135R Battery Strimmer

So stihl have very kindly sent me this battery strimmer to try out and give my thoughts on.

Looks a decent machine. I bought a Milwaukee M18 brushcutter this year, and my only gripe is run time! Admittedly it only came with 0.8 batteries, which give about 20mins each. Probably need to get some 0.12's , but they ain't cheap!! Tend to finish jobs off with my Husqvarna 535LK!

Yes good bit of kit. Having the correct battery certainly helps. Great thing on this machine is it has the different power settings😊👍

They are good You get what you pay for. But obviously if you are a home owner with a smaller property other tools might be more suitable 😄👍

Definitely no.1 setting on domestic maintenance, but 2 and 3 very handy for the tougher work which actually pops up, harness would definitely help on long prolonged work.👍👍

Hi Jason Yes 1 setting seems fine for general maintenance and the other settings for heavier work. It was interesting to try out as I’m still using a 4 mix strimmer!😄👍

Nice review Mark 👍… I really love my Stihl battery hedge cutters and pole saw but I’ve always been a bit reluctant to go battery for my strimmer as I had concerns about them “eating” batteries ( plus the cost of them !) especially if I’m tackling a clearance job.

Thanks On low power setting it’s good for general maintenance trimming. Does get through the battery on full power. I guess if you are doing more clearance work the backpack battery would be better! Not tried it so can’t say!😄👍

They need some goats for all that grass, lol. Got my hubbie converted to a battery mower, so guess what’s next. The video was helpful to help with choice of strimmers. 👍

Nice one Mark 👌 low power setting for maintenance should normally be ample with that set up. If it was the hedge cutting version, would you pick it up over the hla66?

I find that the noise the electric tools makes reminds me of a dentist’s drill. I much prefer the sound of the gas powered ones.

Thanks It weighs 4.3 kg without the battery. Obviously total weight with battery depends on which battery is being used 😊👍

Yeah great to try out as I was interested to see what a battery equivalent was like. Ap 500 is obviously a bit heavier but lasts longer! I guess you have to decide if you prefer lighter but more batteries!😅 Enjoy the weekend mate😊👍
