Food for thought we used to take those red metal fence post and obstacles in the fields we would drive that fence post down beside them them being read they stick out like a sore thumb and the other thing we used to do is take a piece of 2 inch PVC pipe and put over the red fence post and take that reflective tape like they use on tractor-trailers the red and gray and candy stripe that piece of PVC pipe so we just stand out in the dark that’s just food for thought

I'm not familiar with area but anytime you have land that is flat there is a possible field obstacles, referring to drainage and one of. The picture shows the planter avoiding the obstacles, so it appears to be a lack of communication .

Matter fact on our planter tractor we actually carried those red fence post on the white bracket upfront with the post driver so if we hit some south something that we were going to plan around we would put that post down so the combine wouldn’t hit it grace and peace man love your videos

Please give the pros and cons of the rice tires on your combines compared to duels or tracks. I am from Van Wert.
@FarmingInsider
@FarmingInsider 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never ran duals (on a combine) personally but my dad said the floaters stay up longer in the mud. We don’t run tracks because of both the increased cost and we do an extraordinary amount of road travel which isn’t great for tracks. A con of the floater tires are that they do bounce a ton on the road. Like knock you out of the seat if you get in a bad rhythm lol

@@FarmingInsider Oh my, can't that be capped at ground level?
@mounder5
@mounder5 3 жыл бұрын
You guys are foolish if you don't get rid of the pipe. I don't see the big deal to cut if off below ground 3 or 4 ft and cap it. Planting around it is bad enough, but combining around it, especially in dusty soybeans, makes it all the worse.
@RealJohnWayne
@RealJohnWayne 3 жыл бұрын
@@mounder5 That was my first response, we have some old gas wells around here, but they're at or below ground level, so as not to have anything running into it. I think that pretty much destroyed their draper from the sound of it.

Same deal with the unloading auger. When I was a teen I ripped the unloading auger off our Deere 4400 because I was too lazy to climb down out of the cab and manually fold it up and forgot that it was out and ran it into a fence row. About 20 years later the old man was on his cell phone and ran the unloading auger on our brand new Deere 9450 into a light pole, he forgot to flip the switch to fold it back. Not a bad as one of our neighbors though. He backed his brand new 9770 over his nearly new Silverado Z71 4x4. Bent the combine up some but it was fixable. Totaled that Silverado. Apparently he forgot he had just parked it behind the combine. LOL

So it wasn't down to the fact you were wearing the glasses in the combine that you didn't see it until the head hit the head.
