Max is the GOAT, family company that started out in a small town north of the arctic circle with a population of less than 10 000. Also Max and McDonalds have the same wings, but they're better at Max, they're more moist and have a better flavor to them, probably due to a different oil being used for frying them.

Burger king is the "whenever i want to taste something grilled during the winter since its too cold to do it myself"-place, and max is the "whenever ive got my paycheck and feel boujee"-deal

The key word for me is "fresh" taste, which makes Max the winner by far. The "Swedish" recipe for better burgers is tasty sauces (instead of just ketchup/mustard that will be the case in many countries - with optional plain mayo) .

​@@PontidenvresigeWhat do you mean with dirty? If you're talking about how messy it can be inside restaurants, blame it on certain customers. The staff at Max try to keep everything clean, but when there's an unexpected rush of people, it's hard to keep the place clean AND push orders out quickly. It's a fine line between efficacy and maintenance at times.

Some interesting things that might confuse Americans going to a Swedish McDonald's: The soda on the receipt will show as size L/M/S on the receipt, which is not Large/Medium/Small, that's Swedish Liten/Mellan/Stor (ie. opposite order). Also a Swedish large coke is about same size as an American small size. So if you buy a large coke, you get a small US size, and it will say "Coke S" on the receipt 😆

I like the MAX-franchise over the others too. Seeing Sweden is like one city in the US population wise, are there any nation wide burger restaurants/franchise in the US which aren't in other nations too (like McDonald's and Burger King) And was the menu at McDonad's & Burger King the same in Sweden as in USA or did it have variations? Max Hamburgare is the better alternative usually. It costs a bit more but you get Swedish ingredients (meat especially so you know animals have been slaughtered cruelty free) and generally its just higher quality food. Their milkshakes are insane too.

I love MAXs chicken sandwiches. The chicken is hella crispy and the parmesan added so much to that one. A little bit spice, nice crispy chicken and veggies and the parm slices. Got me craving it now. Maybe i should just take a little walk over to max for one 😂

If you guys still are in Stockholm, then please google for top 10 burgers in sweden. The number one burger is located nearby Stockholm, in a suburb and its a food truck. However be there in time because the lines are supposed to be very long.

Fun to watch, not least since your hotel is just opposite my office. As for the Västerbotten cheese sticks, it is a cheese from the Västerbotten region of Sweden. It is a hard cow's milk cheese with tiny holes and a firm and granular texture. Strong in flavour, its taste is described as somewhat like Parmesan cheese, salty, but with more bitter notes. The Västerbotten cheese pie has become something of a staple among the treats for Easter, Midsummer, crayfish and Christmas in Sweden.

The MAX hamburger chain started in 1971 in the city of Luleå in Norrbotten. Max is the hamburger chain that beats out Mc Danaolds in several places in Sweden and is considered to have the best food among the hamburger chains in Sweden. Personally, I prefer the Flippin' Burgers place. Then they do everything themselves from scratch, such as grinding the ground beef with fat themselves and shaping the hamburgers, a bakery makes bread for Dee's hamburgers, they make the french fries themselves from potatoes, they pickle the red onion and cucumber themselves plus everything else they serve.

I would recommend anyone visiting Sweden who wants fast food to go to Sibylla (I don’t work for them), it’s probably more of a countryside thing but it’s really authentic . The shops in the video are more American style. I love American style burgers too though 😂

For reindeer burgers, you have to travel to northern Finland - not as many options for sauce and spices, but the quality is superb. But back to Swedish fast food: If you enjoyed those burgers, you really should try something from "Sibylla". If you find a well established Sibylla fast food restaurant, they will have some of the best burgers available. Next step would be any of the proper restaurant burgers (the ones without drive-in) from "Bastard Burgers", "Tugg Burgers", "Phil's" etc - usually smaller franchises.

Never heard anyone say a Kanelbulle has a "hot" taste, maybe they had a bit too much cinnamon in it. Or they just put way too much sugar in the US version. While there is a fair bit of suggar in a kanelbulle, it's not supported to overpower the main ingredient, the cinnamon. We also don't glaze them with melted sugar as I've seen them do with McDonald's cinnamon buns in the US(traditionally, I'm sure it's an option at bakeries), just sprinkle sugar on top. If you like it sweeter, there are versions with apple or vanilla. My mother used to sometimes make them with apples mashed into a fine paste(äppelmos) and spread thinly over the flattened dough before it's rolled up. Like it more then the chunky version i sometimes come across from bakeries.

Your mother's version sounds delicious! All cinnamon buns here in the US are covered in sugar frosting and also have butter and sugar in each layer. They are sickeningly sweet. Thie swedish way is a much better version, just not what we expected

Halloumi is a name protected cheese primarily made from sheep, but can also be goat. But I has to be from Cyprus. It’s origin protected (like Champagne) so generally it’s considered really bad for the environment. Especially as Cyprus has the highest use of antibiotics in EU. There are heaps of similar local cheeses just not called Halloumi. For instance the Swedish made cheese is called Grilloumi. As it’s mostly grilled.

Great video!! You guys really missed out on the Green Garlic dip, it’s epic. And another great thing about Max it’s that they actually sell their dressings, dips and buns in regular supermarkets, so you can make your own patty with their dressing - there are however better Swedish franchises than Max. However the iconic quintessential burger ever must be the El Maco. A burger with “Tex-mex” flavors and fries with a special seasoning. Don’t know if you heard about “fredagsmys” when the majority of Swedes have a sort of tacos o Friday evenings. Tho it’s nothing like tacos… it’s hard cornbreads or soft tortillas, with mince beef with a special seasoning, salsa (yeah right), and veggies. Pretty nice and actually delicious but really not more taco than a roasted corn on a cob…

I really liked Hamburgerbruket at the start, but the franchises I visited lost their edge during the pandemic. Could be because they started the chain not long before, so the dwindling number of clients due to social distancing made it really hard for them to survive.

Bastard burgers are absolutely delicious! And there's at least one at Arlanda airport! Also, for a really unique burger experience, you need to go to a combined grill and pizzeria that has the "Carlskrove" on their menu. (It's a supersized burger meal, enclosed inside a calzone pizza! Soda on the side though😂)

You should try TUGG. In my opinion they make the best burgers in Sweden. I recommend trying the double-smokey with either normal or mixed fries and for dip sauce the cheddar is so good. Keep up the awesome videos!

Real Swedish fast food is kebab and pizzas. But, the actually REAL Swedish fast food is hotdogs, fries, ketchup, mustard and räksallad. That's like the most Swedish one, if maybe not a "Pucko" drink and a "Tunnbrödrulle" which is like a bread with mashed potatoes, hotdogs or sausages or what have you, and some salads and shrimp salad (räksallad) ketchup and mustard. Mashed potatoes with hot dogs are probably the most Swedishiest of them all.

Oh no, these are eaten all the time. The tunnbrödrulle and the other one is kind of hard to come by these day I've noticed myself. Most people make it at home instead I suppose. The fries and hotdog dish is one that was much more common in the 70's and 80's, around the time "kebab" came to the scene. The typical swede prefer a hotdog or such if nothing else is available, these days it's common to come by places that also sell kebabs and hamburgers etc. @@DoesntPayFullPrice

They are extremely meat-like and if bought frozen at the grocery store and fried at home or put on the grill, they have grains of coconut oil embedded in the paste before they got pressed and frozen, so they get really juicy, and if pan fried, the drippings they leave in the pan is great for frying actual meat afterwards or for adding flour and liquid to make a sauce or gravy❤

Hämta is collect/pick up/fetch. But hem is home and ta is take/bring. So that got me thinking whatever hämta could come from hem ta "home take" as in bring back home? In Sweden we can make words from putting other words together so we may not have as many unique/specific words but put together words which describes the thing. Like in Swedish wiper is vindrutetorkare = wind shield drier. Poor example.

Even "Hämta filen" as in "download the file" but a more literal translation to that would be "Ladda ner filen" ("load down the file.") But of course you brought back wood, food and goods to the home before.

IF you do that in the summer and they have it order a "lyxshake" with hjortron (cloudberry i want to remember the name is in English!?) In general 10 Swedish kronas are about one dollar so it's easy to translate. I have a friend in NJ and prices are roughly the same or slightly more expensive here in Sweden. And usually Swedish salary is also a bit lower. But Sweden is cheaper than the other Nordic countries.
