Thanks Charlie, you did a good job of showing the advantages on this tent. It’s impressive for sure. It’s also obvious that you have some camping experience in you background. I have in the past helped on a camp for 200 people and it’s incredible how some people roll up with a tent (or half a tent) and no experience at all, and then blame the tent. If you’re going to camp at least put the thing up in the garden beforehand so you know how it goes up, and can be taken down! This one - like most - was no trouble at all as you showed. Have a good trip to France, and enjoy yourself! I’ll be motorcycling to Derbyshire in July in a tiny tent.. and I’m 76 y.o. Keep doing the YT thing, and thanks again. Les

Thank you for this video. An other thing good with this tent (hope you didn't said it in the video...) is that you set up the outter tent first. So, if it's raining, the bedroom inner tent stay dry.

Reviews often fail to show how versatile this tent is. It's nice that you showed how easy it is to use the doors as awnings. Also, with doors on three sides, you can almost always set it up to deal with wind, sun and rain, whichever direction they come from. I carry a cheap 7' x 11' poly tarp to use as a ground cloth. Keeps the tent out of the dir/mud, makes it cozier inside, and gives me a clean surface to pack the tent. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

I just done 8 days Nc 500 in a tent Charlie, & tbh that’s the one thing I won’t do again ,I’m 54, no more multi tenting for me , I think you should revisit your tour of France & either go for a much more compact tent “ light weight “ or go the b&b hotel route. Best of luck to you anyway, all the best . Neil.

Looks like a great, well thought out product. Some comments….re the awning I would just angle the pole to create a run-off for water, and my daughter has a blackout tent so the interior stays dark and early sunrises are not a problem… not sure if this is the same. Good review 😊

I can see the appeal and cost savings in camping while touring on a bike, but I like my creature comforts, cheap hotels of which there are plenty in France from my travels there. But hey, we're all different, the World would be a boring place if we were all the same, so good on you for taking it on. That review was extensive with a lot of good inforamtion, so although I don't camp, you kept my attention till the end, maybe it's your character or personality not the content, but anyway, enjoy your French trip. I'm looking forward to see where you go and recoginisng the areas that I've travelled.

Great review, I have had mine for a year now & just come back from a trip to Switzerland, the South of France & back via the Gorge du Tarn. I am 6' 2", 59yrs & like you need to stand up for comfort - especially putting my jeans on ! The only thing I have done is made my own extra full size "groundsheet footprint" as this helps keep the rest totally dry & I can then roll it up in a dry sack to stop it touching the folded tent. The only thing you forgot to mention was the little pockets for the guy ropes to keep them in one place. It really is a great tent & when biking, we need to make sure we get a good night's sleep. Have fun in France 😊

Red Light and Sleep Inertia Sleep inertia-that hard-to-shake groggy feeling upon waking up-is another common side effect of chronic sleep deprivation, and one that red light has been shown to alleviate, according to a study published by a sleep research journal. In this experiment, participants received red light while they were sleeping and upon waking, via red-light masks and goggles. During the three weeks of treatment, most participants reported experiencing more restful sleep, and feeling more alert upon walking. They also performed better on cognitive tests.

It's feckin' huge... 1. There's no way I'm carrying that on my bike 2. I don't need a tent that big when I'm bike camping 3. Why do you need to park your bike in a tent? Isn't your bike waterproof? 4. My Decathlon blackout tent, sleeping bag, ground mat, and chair all fit in a bag that size... Sorry, not meaning to be pissy... I'm just amazed how these guys seem to have got so much traction from social media for a product that makes no sense to me . But besides giving out about the tent, I'm enjoying your channel, I'm off to Spain today, so enjoying your French trip!

When camping for 2 nights or more the extra space is great, and very welcome if it chucks it down. The pack size and weight are virtually the same as my Eurohike Avon 3 tent, but the LR is much better to use and quicker to pitch. I have a Decathlon 2 seconds blackout tent for 1 nighters which is brilliant.

From what I can see, no vents have been counted. On this tent, ventilation of moist air should be done by wind getting under the cover at the ground and out again at the ground. What if there is no wind? You can open a door. What if it rains? Looking at professional tent makers, one of the main focuses is to get out condensation. Then you have to have a ventilation opening at the top of the tent. Otherwise, it was nice demo of the tent and its facilities and possibilities

Great review Charlie - it looks a very well thought out tent. Having a bag big enough to put it back into is always a good idea. Some manufacturers provide a bag which has only barely enough room to stuff and force the tent back into it. Not sure about the Lone Rider's very red sleeping area interior though: I would prefer a more neutral shade myself.

Great review of the tent. I think it is good if you are staying for more than one night at campsites and touring around from that base, or if you are travelling with a friend or a group. You plan to move every day, are you travelling with a friend? If you are planning to travel alone then do you feel comfortable leaving a £460 tent strapped to the bike when you go into services, or walk around an attraction en-route?

It's a valid point, I have a Pacsafe mesh net and padlock for my bags on the bike. 😊

@restdayrider I have the large pacsafe and awaiting the medium size as the large is awkward to use without it springing back and it pulls the hairs out of your arms when contacting .

Great review with lots of info, quality looks really good. Just wondering how are you going on with the sheepskin saddle cover, does it make a long journey more comfortable. Another great great video look forward to the next one.

The sheepskin has been amazing, £7 from eBay and it's a total winner. I thought maybe it would be too hot in the summer, but so far it's actually cooler than the leather!

I'd consider this tent as an EDC in the car along with my "emergency bag" containing "survival equipment". I'm not allowed a bike these days, my son is afraid I'll fall off, very annoying for a pensioner!

I think that it is still very impressive that you are still willing to sleep in a tent! I love the garage feature. You're going to France?!!!! That is awesome! Are you bringing Roger?

I get the have to stand up. I’m 42 BUT I was in the army also, soo my knees, back and feet are feeling 60. I am SOOO close on biting the bullet on this. I have been looking at some alternatives but…. We will see. Xmas is coming soon. 😂

I don't know I think that the pack size is pretty darn big, maybe too big for a bike tent. I use a French army tent (2 man) and if its wet an army basha sheet for the bike. Both pack away very small.

Well done Charlie. First saw this tent on as Saffy Sprocket. Cracking for getting your bike under cover. Out of sight, out of mind. Pity, due to Crohn’s and having a stoma, I would need to strap a porta potti, on the back too…….😂 En-suite only. Did you get that private number with Roger? Hopefully get out on the Meteor later today. Keep up the good work.

Good review of all the features and configurations. Great versatile travelling tent, with some well thought out details. For me, personally, the only down side is the red inner. Would have liked it in a darker colour, or even brown like the outer?
@restdayrider

The red inner is actually intentional I believe, red is meant to ease the sleeping to waking period. I have to say it was lovely when I used it a few weeks ago. 😊

@@restdayrider thanks for the info. Thankfully not something I suffer from. I sleep like a log, unlike anyone within earshot apparently. 😇 Even on an early shift the alarm goes off at 04:30 and I'm awake and up within a couple of minutes. Most of my camping is thankfully done in a hammock/tarp, wherever possible, though most campsites still don't cater for hammock campers in UK. 🙁
