Where are you located? Curious because if you can get to detroit i can help you out by building out your truck so its much more comfy and or if someone will order you a diesel air heater i can install it real quick for you. Im very familiar with diesel air heater and use mine to heat houses im rehabbing here that dont have heat. I also have a good amount of 1/4" foam insulation panels, lumber, screws etc as i rehab houses. I dont have any cash i can spare but i have some skills, materials and time i can help you out with if your ever here.
@ElectronicMusicUnderground2 күн бұрын
Also if your going to run a diesel air heater the best way to power it is to install a battery isolator and a deep cycle battery so you can charge the battery for the diesel heater when your endine is running. It separates the power so you can run the deep cycle deal without draining your engines battery so you dont have to worry about your truck not starting. I lived in rvs on the road for 15 years and i hate using mr buddy heaters. They didnt have cheap diesel air heaters in my time on the road.

And those cheap 800w harbor freight 2 cycle generators are good for charging up a deep cycle battery for cheap. I used them for many years and keep one even now just for emergencies. Cant go wrong for the price.

To get the most out of the chaffing dish gel you'll want to put a heat sink above it. A stand made out of scrap steel to hold the thing a couple inches above the fire because that's all those gel cans are is a low temp stove to keep catered food hot in places without power. If you can find one a big cast iron Dutch oven about half full of sand will soak up enough heat to keep a noticeable amount of heat radiating off it for a couple hours after the fire is out. If used in conjunction with your space heater it'll help keep temps up. Fire it up when you get parked, let it burn til you're just about ready for bed, put it out and between the radiant heat and the space heater it'll maintain temp longer. It'll be way better with the forthcoming insulation

@BriantheMan.-yw2lt2 күн бұрын
Looks like you need insulation on the floor. If it was summer and had the time you could remove the bed liner and lay a bunch of cardboard down underneath. But right now you can just lay it on top of the liner. Downside is it increases your fire risk if something gets dropped on it. I once thought of a stealth camper build. Realized since the bed is so exposed from underneath it’d need an insulation layer.
@StriveSurvive2 күн бұрын

I wish they'd make a propane 'buddy' heater in the 2K range, but the smallest I've seen is 3800 which isn't different enough from the usual ones on low to make a difference. There is a butane "Cupid" heater at 2K, but butane is expensive with no real refilling options designed for economy. Once you get the insulation and sealing sorted out 2K is going to be all you an stand I think. The 'Sterno' cans stink and having that kind of flame inside is an invitation to disaster. A fresh air supply is smart, but losing heat to the outside isn't. Hard to balance that well. And whatever cold is there will definitely 'pool' on the floor unless you have enough circulation to mix in some hot down there. A small fan inside a tube taking heat from the top and putting it down at the floor may be your best bet. In the end it's keep trying things until you find what works best for you. Stay warm my friend and it's nice to see the channel growing!
@StriveSurvive2 күн бұрын
I know a 2k mini heater buddy would be amazing! Call me crazy but if they could make a mini 200 watt or 2500 btu A/C I think that would be great for campers and rvs as well! I don't know if I trust the canned heat, I noticed some droplets around it after popping, don't know if it's water or flammable liquid but doesn't seem safe. Yeah I'm still in disbelief how the channel has come along so far and I'm really grateful and trying to stay moving forward on this path!

@@StriveSurvive I keep trying to send a link to the Luci story but YT keeps deleting it. It's on wordpress cause it's too big for here. Maybe go to wordpress and look for "The Hermit on the Hill" and you'll see it. I'm with you about the canned heat- don't use it inside. WAY too hot above it and spitting out droplets ain't good at all. The cheap 120V A/C units are around 5K on high and can be turned down from there. There are some smaller free-standing ones but they take up a good bit of space and you got a hose to run outside with them. I just watched a vid review of a Hcalory 2K diesel heater and he was getting around 44 hours per gallon on low but there were some fumes at that setting, though those went away on medium settings. There should be some cheaper versions out there and I'm definitely going to get one ASAP. One of YT's parameters for promoting channels is doing regular posts no more than a week apart, so keep at it, you're growing well. And as others have suggested set up some way folks can get things and money to you and put it in your video description section. About to be some really cold weather all across the eastern US so get insulated ASAP and have some back-up heat ready just in case. Keep going bro, you're going to make it!
