“Suona” means “it plays” in Italian. Since the guitar has an Italian spruce top (like Stradivari’s violins), I guess that’s the reasoning behind the name.
@QerstyBass11 ай бұрын
it is also means swamp in finnish
@michaelborn331811 ай бұрын
These are made from not only Italian spruce, but spruce from the Val Di Fiemme, which is the valley where Stradivari sourced the spruce for his famous stringed instruments. These trees came down in a severe storm in 2018 and the wood was saved during the pandemic from being chipped up and going to landfills.

They remind me of the matching Fender Elite Walnut (Gold) series from 1983-84. Fender had three very unique guitars--Elite Tele, Strat, and P-bass II -all had active electronics, noise free pups, a treble boost. The Fender strat had three button pup selector. Gold hardware, special ATA gold cases…very cool series

Fender Japan had a Thinline Strat they made a couple of years ago. A friend of mine got one in cherry red, it has a double bound body (no contour at all), two humbuckers, a bound rosewood fretboard with block inlays. Interesting instrument for sure.
I really like it! It does have some projection acoustically over a normal solid strat imo. I learned and grew up playing a strat, so I am pretty stoked to see a thin line version being made. I agree the price is out there but it's very different in construction and I can see it warranting somewhat of a premium. Hopefully it is successful and becomes a standard with more standard pricing. I think it is really great! The pups sound great as well. Thanks to the guy that NGD'd this and you for sharing it. 🤘❤🤘 And a strat bridge is notoriously ice picky. You learn to tone knob it.

Naah ' Strat chambered with an F hole ' Yikes ' ...sounds great though and a variety of tone too. The case harks back to the early 60s with the Blonde tolex that adorned the amps 62-63, it was also used on the Fender cases for the then top of the range Jazzmaster and just then introduced Jaguar.

A hard tail HSS might help the acoustical and electric qualities. I'd prefer a modern F hole and some dots personally. Some of that wood is pretty choice, that streak knot will get cooler with age. If it was my new purchase I'd be stressing over the dinged ebony at the first fret though.

i really think he miscounted. spruce is really stripe-y and with the stain, it could get hard to tell what's a seam. The exception is if they couldn't find alpine spruce stock large enough to cover a whole top, but they build cellos out of this wood, so I doubt that is the case.

I just got this guitar at the new year. It is the most comfortable strat I have ever played. I have always played a 69 telecaster thinline reissue and really like the 7.25 radius. So the compound neck just feels good to me. I think there is supposed to be something very special about Italian spruce, I don't really know. If someone could fill me in, I would greatly appreciate that. Also, does anyone else have anything from this Suona line? If so, let me know what you think about yours.

It seems high, and I'm not currently in the market for a $3k guitar, but there are plenty of people these days apparently willing and able to pay $5k-$8k+, so for a low production run guitar, $3k doesn't seem unreasonable for a moderately fancy guitar with some interesting specs.

At least Fender understands high end guitar pricing. Gibson charges $5,000 for the same LP Custom they've sold for years that's not even a limited edition or special run. And even higher for a "based on" 59 reissue etc. This is why I love Fender, way more variety, yet you can still get vintage reissues for those who want them, and they aren't trying to charge you a first born for a price.

Salutations Austin! Nice Suoma Thinline Stratocaster! I haven’t seen one of these until now, thanks to you! While you were playing without amplification it actually seems to project additional sound out to the microphone, which you may not have been aware of, because it was projecting away from you, but the microphone picked up the sound quite easily. It would be an interesting instrument to add a piezoelectric pickup in the bridge saddles, such as the Fishman bridge or something similar, to obtain an acoustic guitar sound in addition to the standard electric guitar sounds, just like the Alex Lifeson Signature Access Les Paul has. There seems to be plenty of room for additional electronics. Thank you for sharing your experience with this instrument with us all and posting these videos! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🎸
