Thanks for the shoutout. Awesome b-roll! Probably my favorite thing about these lenses is the fully internal focus. It makes them bigger than the canon stuff, but it's nice not having something protrude from the lens when focusing.

The single greatest lens setup for my M50 for just about everything is the Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM on the Viltrox speed booster. Not too wide, gets down to f/1.4 and is super stable. I cannot stress how amazing that lens is. You would fall in love with it.

@Gary Goldstein yeah, if it was an EF lens it would get speed booster and extra stop of light plus really close to 11-20mm. Too bad no such lens.

From what I understand Canon and Nikon are not friendly to third party lens manufacturers and everything has to be backward engineered. Sony has been encouraging and helpful to third party lens manufacturers from the beginning of the e mount. It would be nice if Canon would give third party manufacturers the information they needed to produce lenses that worked perfectly with Canon’s great autofocus.

Impressive lens, but I think I'll keep using my 22mm and hold out for the Viltrox 13mm. I'm intrigued how you combined 4K, 1080p and varying FPS clips from the M50 to create this video. I'm still trying to grasp such concepts and usually stick to 30fps 1080 or 60fps 1080 slowed to 30. Adding in 4k confuses me, as I thought that crops all 1080 clips? A video showing how you combine such clips would be interesting! :)

That could be an interesting video. I have never had a problem switching between frame rates and resolution.

@@TheCrowleyCrew I am sure it's just a really dumb question, but your video is in 4K yet you included 1080p clips. Wouldn't these be cropped considerably on a 4k timeline and anything filmed in 30 & 60fps be slowed and would need to be used as b-roll due to slowed audio (assuming you have a 24fps video)? My apologies, but I'm old and am struggling to grasp these aspects. :(

@@vdaniellee yeah I have the EF-M 22mm. It's a great tiny pancake. I'm still curious as to how it compares with the viltrox 23 mm though. There's not much loss if you end up selling the Canon 22mm. No need to keep both. I'll wait for the review to decide.

I really enjoyed all of your videos on these lenses and it's making me consider getting this 23mm to pair with my Sigma 16mm. If Viltrox makes a zoom lens that can go between around 13 to 30mm, I would STRONGLY consider getting it.

Just a little piece of advice. For me to get this lens to work with my Canon m50 mark ii I had to go into my camera settings and change a setting to get it to work. They don't tell you this anywhere. You have to enable the shutter

I had the 22 f2 and returned it. It was noisy for video. Otherwise it was fine. Honestly check out the Sigma 16 f1.4 it smokes the 22.

I love my 22 but if I could go back in time I would buy this. It's compelling but as future proofing myself, I don't want to waste money on anything but EF lenses. Maybe the 13 if the price is going to be lower than the 16 1.4 sigma. What do you think?

I am really hoping the 13mm will be EF-M mount. They haven’t announced yet what mounts it’ll be in. If it is that I am sure will sell like hot cakes. A 21mm equivalent vs 26mm equivalent from the sigma. They just need to work on the focus issues and maintain the quality.

Great video, seems like a lens to add a new lease of life to the M50. Maybe you need to do a comparision with the Sigma 30mm f1.4. I know the Sigma too narrow for vlogging but for everything else it seems a great lens
