Right? I was surprised nobody told him to put the camera away. I was in Washington D.C. once, my first time, and was recording from outside of one of the museums as I walked inside. Immediately had a security guard yelling at me to put my camera away and not to take it back out until I'm at the exhibits. Wtf.

For anyone wondering, TSA swabs your bag with a small little strip of paper when you get chosen for a search. The paper uses static electricity to pick up tiny particles, which they then scan (using mass spectrometry) with a machine called an ETD analyzer. The machine will alert them if the paper picked up any drugs or explosives. It can be easy to not notice this process since it's so quick, but I've been pulled aside and had my bags searched 3 times and they did this each time.

Yup, best comment i’ve seen yet explaining this, problem is, It’s so well at detecting, that it can detect residual drugs even coke on a suitcase from just touching a hotel room floor contaminated, It’s happened to quite a few people. Especially staying in a hotel in vegas, many have had there bags outside contaminated with substances on a micro level, leading to problems.

Was looking for this comment! I’ve had this happen every time I’ve needed to take medical equipment through that can’t go through the scanner. Difference there is you alert them beforehand instead of it going through the scanner and then being “swabbed” once something suspicious is found. It has to happen fast so people can be moved through and get to their flights!

I’ve even had a puppy in a carry on carrier they checked. LOL. I think they just wanted to see the bulldog puppy though.

I've actually done the flour thing on a ship and I was so worried they would think it's coke. It was corn flour and I had it for medical reasons. It was in little paper bags so I wouldn't have to weight it everytime during the trip. And yeah, turns out they didn't check at all.

If you threw all the flour everywhere in the plane and could get enough particles of flour suspended in the air, then you could potentially make a fire bomb in the fuselage. Because the flour is so fine it acts as a fuel, and when it gets in the air and is at the optimal air/fuel ratio, it becomes highly flammable and inside a confined pressurized space it would blow the whole cabin out.
