To answer Jacob's question about what Assurance is supposed to be: Nathan is about right, it's essentially when an uncle pats you on the back way too hard, but INTENTIONALLY condescending and passive-aggressive. 'Dark' type would've been a bit more accurately translated as 'Evil' type, and a bunch of its moves are much more easily contextualized as basically dirty fighting (which is why it's weak to Fighting, since Fighting is actually disciplined and considered combat). When you know that a lot of its moves make more sense. And Assurance is basically, after someone's already punched you in the gut, their frend slapping you on the back way too hard to push you back in and going 'You can take it, right!?'

I imagine it like the user is making sure they damage the target as much as possible. Kind of like "kick them while they're down" or "make sure they're dead" by making them take extra damage. The Japanese name translates to "Make Sure".

I'm from the UK and no pokemon here, but when I tried explaining Pokemon Go to my Mother in Law she thought you actually caught real pokemon and didn't understand why you could only see them through the phone.
