Hey I’m 53 years old and stumbled across one of your videos 3 years ago when I was looking to play retro games and discovered cheap emulator handhelds from china, I was looking for reviews and yours on the powkiddy v90 popped up, I enjoyed your video so much I watched more, and since then I’ve refurbished a game boy dmg, game boy color, Gameboy sp, and I’ve made a gamegirl for both my daughters who now think I’m the coolest dad and they are in there twenty’s, just wanted to say a big thank you, I learned a lot had great fun refurbishing old gameboys and gave up on the emulators, I now use a Gameboy micro with a flash card. Thank you so much you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Hello from the USA Elliot. I feel I must say that your videos are consistently brilliant! I got my brother into watching your videos too, and it inspired him to start modding things like joycons and old Gameboys. When my grandmother passed several years ago I was lucky enough to get her old DMG and my brother found it, “borrowed” it, and modded it. He took it apart, cleaned the motherboard, and did a shell/button/backlit IPS multi color screen mod to it. He surprised me with it for Christmas in 2022. Then a few months later I bought 2 used GBA systems, new shells, new buttons, and IPS backlit screens, and my brother did two amazing mods to the GBA’s. I say all that to say this: we had the ideas and inspiration from your channel, seeing all the amazing mods and repairs you do. Sincerely, thank you for creating an awesome channel and continuously putting out interesting and inspiring content! You’re great Elliot, you inspire so many people!

A few months ago I actually did a small repair job on my very first handheld I got as a kid. The atomic purple gameboy color. The LCD screen had somehow gotten shattered over the years, but everything else worked fine. I could hear the game playing when I turned it on. So I just replaced the screen, which was way easier than I had expected for some reason. It's hard to ever justify getting rid of it or selling it. I'm not even really into handhelds that much, but something is really special about that gameboy to me. Hoping one day when I'm an old relic my son might be even remotely interested in having it as a keepsake.

I'm 22, and recently i've also had a huge nostalgia trip when it comes to my old Gameboys, so i decided to take my old, beat up Gameboy Color from the toy box i still kept, and try fixing it. I've actually had this thing since i was 4. I remember always taking it with me to kindergarten, and playing Pokemon Silver. At that time Golem was my favourite pokemon (even though i could never get it myself because of the trading barrier), and i remember also making paper cutout Geodudes and giving em to other kids in my kindergarten group... good ol times... Anyways, it turned out the buttons weren't working at all, and the speaker was pretty quiet. Also the battery contacts were really rusted and mangled. After doing a bunch of research about taking apart gameboys, refurbishing them and ordering some replacement stuff, i got to work. I managed to clean the board with IPA, replaced the old turquoise shell with a transparent one, also replaced buttons, rubbers under them, and battery contacts and... now it looks almost like new (buttons also worked, button contacts just needed a good cleaning)! I also ordered myself Pokemon Crystal in good condition because sadly i've lost my Pokemon Silver a long time ago. I've also had to replace the internal battery in it so there's that. When i finally got everything to work, booted the Gameboy up, and started playing, all the memories suddenly started flooding in... it was an amazing feeling. I have the Virtual Console Pokemon Crystal on my 3DS but it just doesn't compare to playing it on the device it was supposed to be played in. I'm extremely glad i decided to give my Gameboy a second life!

Well done with replacing the volume slider. I have had a couple attempts and always took off the pads! Plus better to go with the original sliders than the aftermarket ones as they don't fit well. A heat gun like yours is much better for this job than a soldering iron for removal.

Ello Elliot, I'd say I'm a pretty big fan of your channel and content, I get such feel-good vibes, and your videos are my absolute favourite to watch first thing in the morning with my coffee in bed. Basically, yeah, big fan. The Temu sponsor.. Bro.. 😔 I do appreciate the ehm... "tone" you used during the sponsor segment, VERY CLEARLY taking the piss/being very sarcastic, and it was funny to watch you basically roast your sponsor, AND get paid for it, but, it's still Temu, they're EXTREMELY spammy, and they use straight up lies in their advertising to get as many people as possible to download their junk app with the promises of 7 USD Nintendo Switch OLEDs (spoiler: you don't get a 7 dollar Switch). I get the angle you took for this sponsor spot, but you still promoted a very shady, dodgy, scammy Chinese store, and in doing so you're recommending your viewers to use the app, and you're vouching for the legitimacy of Temu. Bare in mind stores like Temu have AWFUL customer support, so if any of your viewers place an order and don't receive it, or encounter troubles in the process, and cannot get a word from Temu (effectively getting scammed), you may be held partially accountable for using your reputation to promote such junk websites. Like I say I'm a really big fan, this comment comes from a place of genuine concern and maybe even a wee bit of disappointment (though your sarcastic and piss-taking angle definitely makes up for it a bit haha, only gullible people wouldn't get that that sponsor spot was a massive joke just to cash in some of that sweet Temu money lmao, I do get that. I mean "do you have wet-neck?!" hahahahaha oh man... it's a miracle Temu veto'd that hahahahah) Anyway.. I hope you read this and, well, obviously who the hell am I to give you advice on who to take as sponsors? Well, I'm nobody, but, I am also a concerned viewer who holds you and your content in extremely high regard and affinity, so I'm just coming from a place of love as lame as that sounds lmao

I heard another shopping platform owned by the people who own Temu that was Chinese had been shut down for spying on people through their mobile app. The deals are completely possible, too, they just take forever to finish, and sometimes cannot BE finished.
