I agree with the other posters. First, if it loosens up again, just put a longer bolt through and put a nylon locking nut on the back. Easier than re-tapping. Second, I would also just pull the plugs, pull it over a few times to clear it out, then put the plugs back in and try to start it. If you got good piston/ring seal, when you dump gas down into the cylinders, it can virtually hydro-lock the cylinder, making it very difficult to pull over. Using a starter spray helps eliminate this issue. I would not worry about the oil. I imagine you are seeing the gas/oil mixture from the gas that was dumped into the cylinders.

Being in the south I don't have a snowmobile but the Rotax engine is used on a lot of the jet skis. Pull your plugs back out and clear the cylinders. When you poured the gas in the cylinders it liquefied the carbon build up. Once you get the cylinders cleared put in fresh plugs and it should start up.

Im a fan of older Ski-doo's, maybe cause its what i grew up having. When i was 10 i had a 1980 Ski-doo 7500 Blizzard 340, than at 13 i had a 1995 Formula Z 583 ROTAX with the drag race suspension and than a few years later I had gotten Ski-doo 1999 Formula 3 700 triple. I had a bad wrestling accident when i was 16 and really havent been on a sled since (now im 34), biggest reason i like ur videos is because i still get the outdoors experience through ur videos....keep up the great work

Yo riders! FIRST 300 comments entered to win an S1R Baton II Tactical Flashlight and a RIDE MORE DECAL set for their machine!! :) Okay, so reading some comments here - TO CLARIFY what was done (and said) in the video. YES, I took the plugs out and pulled it over many times to try to get the excess oil/gas out of the cylinders. YES, a 2 stroke is going to have oil down in the cylinders (especially after sitting for months), HOWEVER, too much oil is not a good thing which leads me to believe oil is somehow dripping into the cylinders. When there is THAT much oil in the cylinders it is not good to crank it over because oil cannot compress and will put a lot of strain on bottom end... Some are saying it's not good to put straight GAS down in the cylinders, but believe me, there is plenty of oil down there... I also mentioned it is not THAT big of a deal, but will be fixed before I run it again. NEXT, as for the tapping. I didn't film me tapping the holes out when I was indoors, but YES I used 3 in 1 oil (lubricant for the holes) and drilled them out with a drill prior to tapping. I forgot to drill out the first one (when I was outdoors). Sorry. Thanks for checking out the new video. Take care, ride more.

Pull it over aggressively without the plugs in it, that should spray some oil out. Tip: start the sled at least once a month in the off season. That way it will burn any oil that drips into the cylinder through the oil injection.

Same oil accumulation happened to my Vmax 600, a local shop told me if you don’t turn the oil off this can happen, or even if you turn it off some of these older sleds still get injector oil seep into the cylinder via the intake valve. Was told as long as compression still read in the green it was fine. Don’t know if this is the problem you have but it’s just my experience with it.

Just got done with the same issue on a 2000 Formula Z 700. Its caused by one or both of two things. Check valves on the oil pump (part no 420956510) weaken and/or inner crank seals leak and oil seeps constantly during storage. The problem is getting the oil out so your pulse line will operate your fuel pump. The pto side is easy because you just remove the pulse line and drain into a container (I got about eight ozs from it). Use a little compressed air and clear the line so you can see fuel pump when you turn it over. I don't have any oil in the magneto side so not to sure how to get oil out of that side. Once I got it to run a large quantity of oil came out of the exhaust so be ready with a large rag. You can use the sled all winter but at some point the issue needs to be addressed.

Jeremy.. your very center crank seals are getting weak. This allows oil from your oil injection tank to leak oil into the crank case during long storage. It's a common thing. There is a oil feed hose that comes from half way up the oil tank. That is the feed line that goes to the center Barb fitting in the crank case. It's there to supply oil to the water pump gear and oil pump gear. A band aid fix is to put a little on/off valve in line. BUT MUST TURN ON WHEN YOU RIDE! Or don't sweat it to much. If it hydro locks again just pull plugs and clear engine of oil.
@snowmobilingburberry6 жыл бұрын
James Laurinitis James is correct. Common flaw on 03, 04 revs. Seal goes between oil tank and crank chamber. Fills it up. Slowly at first. Gotta get that seal out. Don’t run it much or it’ll go. It’s worth fixing.

I agree with some of the other posters here...Not a huge deal after sled sat for a while. Fuel or oil or both slowly drained down into cylinders/Crankcase. Pull the plugs back out and torch em clean and dry with a propane torch. Pull over sled a bunch with plugs out and fuel line off. Maybe even let it sit for 30 minutes with the plugs out. Then it should by sendy again. My $0.02

My friends sled did the same thing with the oil flooding the cylinder, we checked the oil pump and it was running rich, we assumed it was just oil that wasn’t burning off and settling in the crank, we had to pull the plugs and keep pulling it over until the oil stopped spraying out the head, gave a shot of carb cleaner to fire it up and gasses is to burn off the oil, have a few sets of plugs because they are gunna foul. Also check the front of the motor there might be a crank drain plug to get the oil out, good luck!

Too much fluid on top of the pistons leads to a hydro lock and thats the reason its pulling so hard. Like others have said. Pull the plugs out again and pull it over a few times. Put them back in and it should fire. Used to run into this problem when I worked in a body shop and the tow guy brought in a roll over car and it laid on the roof too long. Had to pull the plugs and turn it over first. If you have too much fluid on top of the pistons it can bend a rod if it were to somehow start.

your problem is with your exhaust valves. obviously most two strokes dont have valves, but those older rotex's engines did. they are under those black caps with the red circle on the exaust side of of your motor. all you have to do is take them out and clean them. very simple job, and very common problem. no worries, nothing major. as far as putting gas down the plug holes goes, nothing wrong with that. where i live in canada, i dont know a single person who drives an older sled that doesnt put gas down the plug holes to fire it up. should probaly pull it over a few times first though to get the gas primed through the carbs, but no biggy. when she fires up, itll do the same thing. might just have to repeat the process a few times. btw great videos, man. keep up the great work ! oh, and btw, put mixed gas down the plug holes. never put straight gas down a two stroke.

Little oil after sitting for so long is normal on a older sled. Take plugs out and pull over a few times (with fuel off) after quite a few pulls put a little bit of gas down the cylinders (mixed gas of coarse!!). Then all that is left to do is pull her over and fire her up. She will smoke like crazy for the first while because of all the oil build up, but will eventually burn out and be good to go :) hope this helps! :edit, not sure how you are about aftermarket stuff wise but I would get a mbrp can (or any aftermarket can you like for that matter), you can free up some more ponies and lighten your sled up a bit, and there is also the sounding better part :)

The bottom end is probably full of oil/fuel. You may have to pull it over with the plugs IN, it'll load up the cylinders and pull hard again. Then take the plugs back OUT, blow the oil out by pulling it over. Put the plugs back IN and repeat until it stops flooding the cylinders. Not having the plugs in and pulling it over won't draw the excess oil/fuel up from the bottom end of the engine. Either that or drain the case (if it has one).

the fuel does evaporate and leaves the oil behind also. pull the filter and spray some flammable in the carb throats, she'll fire eventually.
@josefsherman24936 жыл бұрын
Hey I have a tip for you. My dad said that if when you pull it oil should automatically go into the cylinders from the oil injection system so if you pulled many times than that’s probably why there’s in there. And plus you put gas in the cylinders so that could’ve mixed with that oil and made a lot. I don’t know if this helped but I hope it did.

you poured gas down your cylinder and hydro locked the engine with gas and that's why the plugs where soaking wet, even if it is oil just take the plugs out pull the engine over till no more mist is spraying out of the cyls and you're good to go, you pulling on the rope that hard when its hyrdo locked can really hurt the bottom end , and the rods though.

You should have used the proper drill first to open up the hole a wee bit. Or like I said on my last post, just put a longer bolt with a nut on the end of it. Just pull on the starter, and it should come out. Maybe dump some alcohol in there, then pull it over. I had a polaris that if I didn't turn the fuel off after riding it, it would fill the cylinders with fuel. Good luck. The problem is with the fuel pump. It is leaking internally. Just shut the fuel off for now and it should be fine.
