The tear down would be pretty interesting. I live in central/north NJ an theres very little areas to ride off-road anymore so ive only bin riding street for the past 15 years or so.. I would love love love to have a snow machine or anything for strictly off-road for that matter.. But im a cnc machine mechanic so im interested in working on anything especially engines...

Glad it was ‘just’ a mouse nest. I don’t know how many times I have found nests in airboxes, exhausts, even sucked onto into my turbo no idea how it got past the aircleaner. Damage sucks but much better than an electrical fire. Nice recovery on your brother’s part ! Keep up the great videos !!

Here's a good trick to keep mice out. When the seasons over stuff some steel wool in the muffler. Just make sure to leave enough sticking out, to pull it back out in the fall.

Good video. My sled and bike are in the garage, but I've already discovered a mouse nest in the bike last season. They say dryer sheets prevent mice from building nests, so we'll see. The SRX 700 and Hayabusa are packed with them. Good luck on the Polaris leaf blower. You'll get it. You still got the MXZ 700, So life is good.

I guess I'd better start by telling you how much I enjoy your videos and watching you and others having a ball doing it. It all reminds me of my youth in Northern Alberta where we all had snow machines and lots of snow. Dirt bikes and ATV's abound either in the fields and forests or on the back of everyone's pick ups. Now at 5:03 you say "I wish I could have seen that before". Of course hind sight is 20/20 but I must say that the first time I saw you starting a sled at the start of a year and just going for it without an inspection of it I was surprised. Well not that much as I was young and anxious too once. But please remember that any sled or truck etc that's been sitting for even a few weeks you know those little "Buddies' of ours will have gotten into it and made a pile of kindling anyplace anywhere. You must have seen how many babies they have when you've been baling. Lifting up a bale and seeing the sometimes dozen little critters and their parents running you've got to know they are EVERYWHERE. Anyway I'll shut up as I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Nice job on the videos - have generally agree that you should make sure the carbs aren't lean as well as cleaning that junk out...maybe you can throw one of those plug temp gauges on there to make sure you're not blazing hot (they're cheap)
@lechkenassh90083 жыл бұрын
and that's why you check your engine bay fully before you start riding!!!!!! and that's why I like sleds with primers for cold starts!!!
@nathandarkow38126 жыл бұрын
Call me dumb but that is the coolest trick ever to put a rope on the clutch. Never knew that! I know i coukd do that with my boat and an i/o engine but not a sled. Keep it up bud!
@TheDivergentDrummer5 жыл бұрын
It's in the manual, as well as standard procedure in the Snowmobile safety course. All your pull start is doing is turning the crank. Just be sure that when you do this, you have the rope wound the CORRECT DIRECTION. Some clutches actually have a notch cut in them, specifically for this purpose. In a pinch, a belt works as well.

I'll give you an old farmers trick to keep mice out of parked snowmobiles or machines. When you're done putting it up for the year before you cover it by any wiring, small holes or tight open places put regular scented dryer sheets the more the merrier. I've been doing this for years and I store all my toys in an old hay barn and still no mice
@ArcticJeff6 жыл бұрын
Glad you got it home and figured out. Doesn't sound too expensive for some cosmetic parts. Get a proper gas cap first! Looking forward to the "fixing" video. P.S. I can't believe how much snow you have for this time of year. I'm in South Eastern Ontario and we have a dusting.

You need it primed. Just pull the small fuel line, they connect to the air box. Pull them off the air box and blow in them. It primes the carb with fuel.

if you know you won t be riding for a few days and keep your sled in a barn or garage, have a small piece of steel wool next to where you park and stuff it into exhaust so they can't get up there. Especially over the summer.

My luck is when the choke knob falls apart and I lose the pin All in one setting. I cannot count how many times I had that happen. It got to the point I started carrying a pull cord with clip and a whole other choke lever and pin in my pocket in a plastic bag. Yup.... fun times. I dont miss THAT part of it. I think I told you the story of the acorns blowing all over the shed( on fire) That was when I learned to stuff the exaust with rags in the off season.
