I'm just getting myself into fighting games, starting with SF5. Although I'm very late since SF6 is only months till release, atleast learning SF5 will prepare me for SF6. I'll definitely try how you approached the game. I think it's a really good learning process for beginners. Your video is really well made! Thanks for your effort, much appreciated!

You can keep playing SF5 even after 6 comes out. People still play older fighting games. Old games even get new players all the time! The other day I played a 20 year old game and there were a bunch of beginners like me. Even though the population in older games will be much much smaller, you still only need one other person to play a fighting game :)

How so? The video is more a spectacle or emotional movie than an actual guide. There is very little to learn. Nobody wants to hear, go to training mode or practice or go to another streamer or watch a pro. It's not constructive. What people NEED to hear is stuff like, your mediums are your bread and butter and can be spammed but don't rely on it too heavily. Or reasonable punishes for your level and practice them over and over. What is and isn't safe. Block strings and why they matter. How to open up overly defensive players with your character. How to put an end to jump heavy spam Ken and Ryus at low level because that is mostly what you will see and they will never climb but gatekeep you until you learn to deal with it. It's not personal it's just not a great video for the title. Had it have been "my 4 week journey" then it would be fine and I wouldn't have wasted 20 minutes by not clicking on it. But as it stands I learned nothing. The first 1300 LP are absolutely terrible players and if you can anti air, tech throw PROPERLY, do somewhat optimal punishes and not throw out unsafe stuff all the time you will comfortably sit at 1300 with every character. But that's isn't where you want to be. Pushing to high ranks is the only way to truly improve and nothing in this video portrays or directs you towards competence. Nothing offensive it's just factual. I'm glad this guy completed his goals but for me as a viewer I got shafted from my KZbin search.

Bruh I know how this feels, I got a friend that's really into fighting games and I've been trying to get into more fighting games (street fighter and darkstalkers specifically) and it's pretty tough to get into. Especially when my mate keeps wanting to play Street Fighter 3 3rd strike (pretty gun tbf). I definatly need to get into them more. Great stuff man!!!!
@Hadokane4 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! Yeah it's been an issue for me for years. Always wanted to get into them properly and move beyond just knowing how to do a single move! Hope the vid helps you out my dude, was the hardest I've worked on one up till now 😅 Third strike can be brutal, just watch the Daigo Parry video and use that as motivation!

This guide was really good. I feel like it doesn't overwhelm people and makes it approachable. I think the best word of advice is to make sure you're having fun and the more amount of time you put into it the better you'll get. It's just not always noticeable that you're getting better until you look back at your progress from weeks ago. Any amount of time spent in the game is you getting better overall
@l0lhei541 Жыл бұрын
Fantastic comment! It's about the journey, not the destination. Do not give yourselves impossible or far too difficult goals... Go small. Learn a combo properly first, from both left side and right side. Learn to punish whiffs and mistakes. Learn to defend yourself better. Learn to move better. Then.. Set a goal of "I will reach a decent beginner rank online" and work towards it while repeating the other lessons during downtime. Watch your own fight replays to pin-point your mistakes or bad habits and work on removing them or lessening them. Again, this journey is as long as you want, as interesting and as fun as you want it to be. It is yours. If frustration or salt levels exceed human levels? Do something else for a bit. Go into training and practice combos or something else you enjoy. Watch a movie. Or do what I do, hit the gym or go for a jog. Leave the game be, collect yourself and then try again. Your online ranking or tier is not your worth as a player or human being. Remember that.

Once you learn one fighting game well, you can take those concepts (frames, pressure, neutral, ect) to other games and just learn how it applies to that game, just like the skills youll have in an FPS will transfer to most others. If your just getting into fighters, itll be hard and frustrating at first but once you get the train rolling, you wont want to stop.

Try holding the stick forward and inputing the quartercircle forward without puting the stick in neutral. Or try holding forward, circling down and then down+forward. See which works for you.

Against Ryu players: Just defend a lot and then attack a bit and denfend a lot and attack a bit more. Just keep repeating that and you should catch on on how to fight Ryu. If he starts Rushing you, then rush back and bait moves to punish him.

Best advice... make friends. Go to local tourneys if any. And don't spend longer than 2 hours in training mode daily. You'll have more fun being part of a community even if it's only just 3 of you playing. You share knowledge and growth. Losing isn't as stressful when there nothing but a good match on the line. Like... all of that. Just have fun and make friends and be competitive.
