Oh poor Finny. I had to laugh at Rebecca standing on the ledge trying to cut the baby’s nails. I was thinking Rebecca don’t fall off. When you got the goat around the wrong way. That Was so funny. This was an awesome video love watching you both work together.

I would like to suggest building another gate inside the barn to segregate the animals from the pan side and the storage side that way you just have to clean the animal side and not the storage side as often.Thanks for all the great KZbin content. PS maybe keep the mama girl locked up and just let the little ones out to run free for a little while

I actually filmed discussing closing off the rest of the barn with a sliding door, but It ended up being cut from the video. The video was getting too long. But I was thinking of closing of the other half, and only opening it up on rainy days.

Make a hallway box for the chicken coop so the goat cant get in. Take some plywood, make a box a bit bigger than the chicken coop door, instead of having it be a straight shot into the coop, have them make a left or right turn to go into the coop door, so have the door on the side not the end. The goat cant make the turn, the chickens can. Remove it when the goats don't fit anymore or put another pin in the sliding door so it cannot lift up for the goat once in starts sticking its head in the door. Just a guess or two to try.

I like you idea of a hallway box. I may try that, it sounds like it would work.

This was what I would recommend trying as well. Someone beat me to the punch. 😊

I am sure they will be the best of friends, give them time

I hope so, it has been a week now, and they are still not getting along. We have read, that it may take 2 to 3 weeks.

There is nothing wrong with forced cuddling...LOL 🤣🤣 I would also maybe suggest not allowing free roaming of the barn. It just makes for more work and they could also end up sick if they get into the feed and eat too much at one sitting.

Jason from Cog Hill Farm did a higher chicken coop opening with a piece of wood for them to fly up to and into there coop - his was to keep the ducks out as they just gorged the chicken food with the little fainting goat that may solve your problem as she has not tried yet but if the other little ones can get in she shore can - you don't want her to kill herself with bloat

Fainting goats are my favorite!

very happy to see your goats aren't disbudded. good choice
@CountryViewAcres5 жыл бұрын
We felt, since the goats are so small, that the horns aren't really a danger to us, but would help them protect themselves. So we decided not to disbud.

I would recommended getting another baby goat as a friend for Finny.
@CountryViewAcres5 жыл бұрын
I think my wife would recommend that too.! Any excuse to get another goat.

So watching partway I recalled this {kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYLSl4WMrNF2Y68}. Hope has enjoyed an adventurous life & she also had herd introduction issues. The comment about socializing the kids & restraining mama (her age+ size gives dominance) makes sense. Hope eventually grew & established her 'spot'. She has become a chunky petit thing. Chores + filming + editing & working (perhaps seeing some other FYI goat vlogs) Those howls at the end, maybe set up a game cam by the barn doors to check activity? You Guys are making it happen.

It takes at least a week for new animals to be accepted in the herd.

I do most of my chores in a nighty and muck Boots, when it's cooler out I have Pj's and muck Boots 😎

I wife wears yoga pants and muck boots all the time, but she normally shy's away from the camera. I am slowly getting her used to being filmed.

Enjoy the content 👍. Don’t know a lot about the latest breeds of Goats but you’re correct about the pecking order. Yet is funny every now and then you end up with one that breaks the rules. As a kid we once had a nanny who ruled the herd from the time she was big enough to butt heads. Just had that never quit attitude. Her nickname was Boss she was of the LaMancha breed not sure if that’s spelled correctly.

The goats are pets, but we may experiment with milking in the future.

Why dont you put a collar on the small goat
@trwsandford5 жыл бұрын
lol, She's totally right, its your farm, you get to set the dress standards as you see fit. When the camera isn't running you could even run around nekked if you want.
@CountryViewAcres5 жыл бұрын
That could be, but you'll never know. LOL Leaving in the country, where you can't see any neighbors is great!!!

One time my wife wanted a fish bowl with 8 or 9 fish, same issue one larger fish continually chased and harassed the others, It proved to be anything, but restful and peaceful, she finally had all she could stand, She flushed the harasser down the commode, in no time one of the others took over the bullying position, A few days later, she had enough, all the rest of the fish got flushed, she never had a fish bowl again, Sometimes it’s just does not work out, sometimes you are the windshield, sometimes you are the bug, Normally I enjoy your films, however, did not enjoy this one,

I think Finny should’ve bee named Rudolph. (She’s non binary and doesn’t conform to traditional names). She isn’t going to be allowed to play any goat games with the others.

Let finny sleep in the house....🙄 why cant the goat be with the chickens?
@CountryViewAcres5 жыл бұрын
The problem is the goat eating the chicken feed. They may gorge themselves and get sick.
