Yea that was uh sketchy and extremely high injury risk. As a suggestion, remote disable. Amazon has dirt cheap 12v single remote boards. Super easy...Pos and Neg then jumper the Pos to 1 switch terminal then the other terminal to the load, like a solenoid/relay. Then you get at least some chance at shutdown for safety

RC controls would be really cool. Reach out to us FPV drone guys if assist is needed. FPV would let you drive it from the perfect vantage point, as-if you were seated on the engine itself. The RC remote will control everything you need. You can add something called head tracking and then the camera can look left and right as you turn your head, while still sitting safely in the chase vehicle or on the ground. FPV equipment is not expensive at all, the new DJI stuff records in amazing HD. The control system nor even the actuators have to be very expensive .. and much of it will survive for you to use on other projects. I would kill to be involved in such a project. Make it happen!!! Technology is your friend

how hard would it be to take a servo an make it work the throttle and steering. one of those electric power steering motors that attaches to the colom set at a really high sensitivity would make the steering alot lighter so u wouldnt have to have a monster servo to do the job but ive seen it setup on other cars so u they could be driven an this is how i always assumed it was done but never really knew for sure. might be something to look into tho an would be the safest option. only thing it doesn't do is shift the gear but being able to work the throttle should keep it moving slow enough it would make jumping off onto something moving alot side alot easier than with it going full throttle
