When you wonder if your axle is strong enough for a set of 54s, then you find out it's strong enough for a set of eight 54s. LOL
@JuarezDerrick2 жыл бұрын
That's 4 sets
@hunterlong18202 жыл бұрын
@@JuarezDerrick yes a set of 8 is 4 sets
@spambeanie22 жыл бұрын
That doesn't matter only time it would matter if your axles are strong enough to handle is if you were under a load trying to pull or do a big burnout creating excessive twisting force from the motor and the excessive inertial weight that you have to overcome

@@JuarezDerrick'm pretty sure that is what he meant!! Or he could have meant eight "not" sets of 1 lol. But yes you are absolutely correct, only 4 sets on that ride definitely would be crazy to see 8 sets on the rear. 16 tires that would not only be expensive AF but insanely crazy as well!!

This was awesome.. I would of been curious what it could of done with just one tire on each side. Total A for effort lol

That hammered out half dead engine proved tougher than expected and for some reason it still lives. Looking at the frame and how it was put back together when it was narrowed it was surprising that it held up as long as it did. That rearend surviving as well as it did however especially with the bouncing and flexing was the biggest surprise of all. Other than the purely insufficient framework that was done to connect it back together, that truck has given me an appreciation for the advertising slogan Built Ford Tough…..because that thing proved that it WAS tough. It would be interesting to see how it would have done if the frame had been welded and braced properly and had a good running engine in it. Goodbye Chevrolet truck…you were just blown away by a ratty old Ford.
@jearlblah51692 жыл бұрын
im sorry but "built ford tough" is BS in my opinion. We bought a brand new RV with a ford motor home chasis. Didn't even get home (legit within the first 24 hours of owning it) and the rear axel seized up and snapped the driveshaft and pogosticked the RV, shoved the axel out of place, all because ford forgot to put oil in the rear axel.

Isn’t the motor an international and the axle built by Dana? 😂

How about some walking mounts between the tires that let them walk higher or lower than the tire next to it while keeping the same center line so they drive in conjunction with the other tires? It’ll take the flex off the axle and look really, really awesome.

You literally designed that frame to break, you made the frame weld a pivot point, holy crap I assumed you boxed the top and bottom and braced the pipe to the frame but no. Shame on your helpers for not calling you out before you loaded it on the trailer. "yOuRe a UtUbe kEYboaRd WelDer" Sure at least I know C frames are designed to be C's for a reason. (the reason is strength)

A buddy of mine years ago had a mid 80's 2wd nissan pickup, that he was driving around without a bed on it. I had an 82 datsun 4x4 with an extra set of 33's, so I suggested mounting two of them on the rear end. That thing looked so cool all jacked up in the rear, and he actually drove it for quite a while like that because it looked so outrageous.
