Another thing. › Taint from Dark Latex monsters should regress over time. This is due to said taint not keeping its form and assimilative potential in the absence of a crystalline core. (To counteract that, make their infectivity higher. At Taint Stage III, the user should start developing a mask, the crystalline core, allowing them to control the taint better at the cost of the taint no longer going away.) › Dark Latex creatures should be able to absorb people at higher stages of Taint instead of assimilating them, "killing" them as far as game mechanics go, increasing and restoring their own health, and allowing them to inherit their fighting style. If an NPC does this, you take control of the NPC instead of respawning. › Light and Dark Latex should infight between each other if both are inflicted at once. Light usually wins the clash, absorbing all Dark, but if Dark is at Stage III or higher, Dark wins. For other types of latex, they usually override Light and Dark, except when Dark is at Stage III or higher.

One more thing. Infection stages should have some effect on your character: • I: Health regeneration starts sooner and is 20% stronger. Taking damage increases infection progress. • II: -20% weapon cooldowns. User can only hold one weapon at a time. • III: Claws can be used. All other weapons can no longer be used. • IV: +20% sprint speed, immunity to fall damage. Claws gains a new [R] ability, allowing you to Lunge forward when used. -20% walk speed, air control, and turning speed. • V: Walk speed, air control, and turning speed penalties removed. If a teammate is close to the user, adds a chance for a quick act-out attack that taints them if they linger for too long. Adds a Parry ability to the Claws, tied to the [E] key. • VI: Tainted. Grab, tied to the [G] key, can be used.

For half-transfurs, the effect should be tied to some effect that guarantees one will always be at Stage V, just without the usual negative effects. (Maybe you could balance that by adding other negatives? idk.)
