Eh, it kinda does take effort tho. To generate good art, you have to find the right generator, and then be super specific with your prompts, and even then you might not get what you want. Is that effort alone enough to call yourself an artist though? Debatable. And frankly I think the answer to that debate is not important, because we have bigger issues concerning the use of AI art.

@@endiecutie06 Surprisingly, AI 'somewhat' knows how to code, but if you feed it advice on how to program or even 'rizz' itself, you get stagnation in what the community surrounding it thinks is 'flashy' or 'impressive'. AI even argues that people take too much credit (Which is true, but I think they just say that to deflect progress.)

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think that there is a "tipping point" where the "inbreeding" would continue to create more (debatably) art. Also there'd definitely be a weird point where it is garunteed fo create something new because of the monkeys and typewriters theory but once you start letting time approach infinity in math and statistics almost everything becomes technically "possible" (side tangent, just an interesting note because math)

You brought good points in the video but you kinda made the other person be an extreme characature and that just feels in bad faith. The point isn't to make a point though, it's to make fun of something. I wouldn't compare AI with NFT despite its issues. The average person does find use in AI, like, Google Translator and DeePL are both AI products, so that gives it some value over "this monkey image will be worth something bro".

The issue is that musical sampling requires authorization from the artist that made the song, according to copyright. It's even more of a hassle the more the song is used. Imagine if an AI had to ask for permission to use each of the images they use right now to generate new images, they simply wouldn't be able to work. And the funny thing is that that's how's supposed to be.

@@da_purple_lizard Just because AI can replicate it doesn't mean it's generic. Everything has some sort of pattern that can be found by an AI and used to generate something similar. Does that mean the original art piece isn't unique? Also, AI art is limited in what it can be used for. I like coding visual novels, but I'm yet to see an AI art generator that's worth using for my sprites, BGs, etc. I'd much rather get free resources from kind human artists, or (if I had the budget) even just hire one.

I also think what you mention with it, possibly, threatening artist's jobs feeds not only into hostile responses but also results in artists being much quicker to accept the idea that it's morally wrong, because it's very easy to accept that something that is a threat to your job is also evil, true or not.

In my opinion, people who use AI to create artwork aren't the artists. The AI they use is. It's the one that actually produces the image. The people that send the prompt are merely a form of "commissioner". Much like a commissioner, they give a subject for the artist to paint. They aren't artists to begin with.
