In regards to Danish, nobody understands them, and we are unsure if they even understand each other. Then comes Icelandic and we're starting to wonder where the vikings are.

Danish and English are similar, so if you know English, you'll have an easy time learning Danish, besides pronunciation of course. The numbers might be a bit strange, as something like 155 would be said as 100 5 and 50. It's still not that hard to just get used to. Pronunciation and understanding the spoken language is a different story. I, being Swedish and having one of the most closely related languages has a really difficult time understanding Danish. There are of course better and worse cases, but in general that is my experience. Norwegian on the other hand I can almost instinctively understand, even if there are words I've never heard in my entire life. There are dialects that I won't be able to understand, but that's true even for some Swedish dialects. We have to base it off of standard language in order for it to be fair. There's not much more to say about it though. If you can speak English, you'll be able to learn written Danish quite easily. If you know Norwegian or Swedish, even easier.

I'm from Greenland and we were taught Danish from 1. grade and only half of us fully understands Danish ^^; I can speak and write Danish but sometimes I really have a hard time speaking it even though I've learned it since I was a kid lol It's easy but at the same time it's really hard 😂

Danish sounds like a very, very, very drunk person talking 😂 danish and norwegian words are often written the same so it's actually quite easy for me to read and understand danish (I'm swedish and have lived in norway), but when someone speaks to me in danish I will probably look like a questionmark and keep asking the person to repeat themselves until I kind of get it 😅

I think you spoke pretty good Norwegian. interesting facts about the north. The Icelandic language is the last language in the north as the Vikings spoke and when the Vikings were in other parts of Europe, it was quite common that vikings from Sweden and Norway worked together so that all languages spoken in the north have become quite different now the Icelandic language and it is Therefore Norwegian and Swedish are quite similar

I was gonna surch k pop idols funny bloopers, but when I wrote "k pop idols", something popped up, "k pop idols speaking norwegian".... MY mind was BLOWN!! Becaus I'M NORWEGIAN 😂😂 So it's really funny watching this🤣 but just so you know, I don't speak like what you heard there! It's because of dialekts you know, like youd speak a bit different in other cities in the same country! But I didnt look on when this video was uploaded but there's ONE very important thing I wanted to say😁 Your right on the thing when you said that norwegian is simular to Danish but also WRONG! Because you see, Danmark has changed allot on how they speak throu the years so now all I hear is baby talk😂 Like we visited Danmark on summer and when my parents speak norwegian they understand us, and my parents understand them buuuut.... All I and my brother hear is "ugh dush bigh la bruh" 😑😑😑😑 How am I suppose to understand that😂 so yeaah theive changed a lot! And I've heard that their language is just gonna get worse and worse as the years pass😂 Like we do have extremely similar writing buuut, you can say that for us... They pronounce it with a potato in their throat 😂 Just know I'm not trying to affent you or people from Danmark, I'm just telling how it is now😂 But sorry for this LONG comment, I always make long comments I don't know why. Like it's a problem! And I'm 14 so if you don't know or if others don't know, we learn English at school since 1th grade😂 but I'm still not so good😂 anyway! Sorry for the long comment please nobody get affended I'm just telling the truth and what I experience, so now I just understand sweeden a little but NOT Danish (I don't know how you use the word for Danmark, is it Danish? I don't know) 😂 but sorry for the long comment I'm gonna leave now, GREAT VIDEO IT WAS FUN TO WATCH 😁

I’m faroese, so I understood the danish, swedish and norwegian parts. I will say though that I become completely lost when someone is speaking finnish and I only understand a bit of icelandic. Faroese people have danish as a second language and thus swedish and norwegian are pretty easy to understand because they sound like a blend of faroese and danish. A bit sad that the Faroe Islands and Greenland almost never get mentioned when someone is talking about nordic countries though, but I really enjoyed your video. Fun content :3

@Erik_Emer6 жыл бұрын
Well, I can't say that you didn't try Icelandic. Ending "r" and "r" before and after certain consonants sound like a combination of s+r+th+h all together. Yup Letters with accents are not longer. They're actually different from their non accented versions: a / á (a + ú) e / é (je) i & y (this vowel is like the "i" in "sit" / í & ý (this one is more like how the last Koreans pronounce the last name "lee," but more tense) no difference between i and y except for meaning o / ó (o + ú) u (this is similar to how Korean USED to say 위 historically)/ ú (yeah, this is how you would imagine what the "u" would sound like. It's just úúúúú) ö (how Korean historically said 외) æ - a + í ð is just like the "th" in "this" in English Þ - is usually like "th" in "thing" "g" is not pronounced in "fjögur" "g" is pronounced like "gv" in certain words (one of them being góðan) and this has to do with the word "god" in the Icelandic language Uh, yeah... Icelandic isn't easy.

Danish is super easy as long as there are no D's and G's in the middle or the end of a word. Unfortunately there are D's and G's in most Danish words, and letters don't have accents which tell you whether or not that bastard D is solid, soft or silent, so unless you know the word, you can't pronounce it... And as with most languages, there is quite a number of words in the Danish language. This is what makes it one of the most tricky languages in the world, and virtually impossible to learn unless you surround yourself with it.

Hah, ha! That was a hoot, and fun editing (when you go 🤔😤 😭 😱)! I always thought Danish is a throat disease instead of language. The first Dane was probably someone who was punished with hot coals in his mouth, and then exiled. I have huge problems saying Swedish words, and if someone is from Skåne ... excuse me, I thought you were Swedish... I'm a Finn, and Scandinavian languages have crazy difficult sounds to me. Italian, Spanish, Japanese and English are easy.
@SoulofSol6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think the more north, the more difficult 😂 and I think Finnish is easier because I already have heard so many times so Im used to, but also the pronunciation is not really difficult for me 😮😮😮
@Aurinkohirvi6 жыл бұрын
I just listened a German person's video, in whose opinion Finnish sounds like German, but each word just ends with a vowel (usually I in here opinion). Well, I didn't quite agree. To me Romance languages sound much more similar to Finnish than Germanic languages. Both Korean and Japanese have borrowed a lot of words from Chinese, but to me Korean sounds and the tone of speech is closer to Japanese than Chinese (yeah I know they all belong to different language families). What language the Koreans find easy to learn generally? Do you think Finnish has any difficult sounds (difficult vowels maybe), or is the tone of Finnish speech strange to a Korean?
@SoulofSol6 жыл бұрын
I think it depends.. for me making Finnish sound/pronunciation is not difficult at all but words are so long and just seem difficult 😂 Japanese is grammatically so similar to Korean but they have totally different words, some words sound similar but yeah, Japanese is easier for me to learn
@Aurinkohirvi6 жыл бұрын
The basic forms of Finnish words aren't long though. But because it is agglutinative language, and combination words are spelled together, some of them may be long.
