I hope you guys enjoyed that video. If you did SUBSCRIBE - let's hit 2,500. Apologies for calling the HT leads coils 🤦🏽♂️. When I was editing the video I think I spotted what is wrong with the car, let me know in the comments if you can spot it as well. (Look closely when I'm taking the dizzy cap off 😉)

Yeah - honestly made a massive difference when I look at the before and after. Thanks for the comment and hopefully have some more Mk2 videos up soon.

Good news you got the car started. I was thinking that you needed to pump gas pedal and crank the starter a little longer to see if it would start. Replace the distributor cap and new rotor for sure. Eventually replace spark plugs and cables( leads). Good luck with your KZbin. I drive a 2004 MR2 spyder with 173000 miles here in warmer dryer state of NM of the US.

Thanks a lot for your comment, my friend who got it started said the exact same thing about pumping the gas pedal (said there is a technique to it). Yeah I'll definitely get onto the rotor and distributor cap, I have a lot of respect for the Spyder one of the best handling cars I've driven - gives so much confidence in turns 👌🏼. 173,000 miles 💪🏽

Glad you got it started! I have to get my tubby going after not using it since last summer, usually starts fine, but you never know. Like the mk1 in the garage too 👍

Thanks for the comment, it should start up 💪🏼they're solid cars . Pretty sure my starting problems are being caused by a cracked ignition coil - will swap it out soon 🙏🏼. Good spot on the mk1 👊🏼

There is an issue with these Toyota twin cams (I had a 1998 SW20 Anniversary). On occasion, the head can get itself confused and out of time - classically looks like a dirty crank sensor. Continuous cranking (pray on a good battery) will start it. Mine did it twice and I got rid - to my shame these days. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the comment William, the anniversary is a very nice car 👌🏼. I think I managed to fix the issue by replacing the ignition coil (old one was cracked) - still need to test it fully but it did start well after installing it (video is on the channel). Thanks for information regarding the crank sensor I'll definitely look into it also 👊🏼.

Glad you got her started in the end 👍 What's news with the diverter valve on the Mk5? Was the turbo sound genuine or did something go wrong with the install?
@HimiJ3 жыл бұрын
Yeah was good to get it started 👊🏼 Sadly the turbo sound isn't normal, it was making the flutter since the connector slid out of place (I broke the retaining clip), so the diverter valve wasn't opening and the boost had to go somewhere (through the turbo). I plugged it in again and it stopped making the flutter (but still holding boost better than the rev d). Will need to find a permanent fix somehow 🙏🏼
