Once the abuser fully reveals themselves and the abused realizes what they’ve gotten themselves into, maybe then they can figure out why they chose them. Yes, they are adults, but until you’ve been the victim and know what happened to make them so vulnerable, you can’t possibly appreciate their quandary. Saying they “freely chose” is easy to say, but it’s not accurate.
