Tryp Resort Cayo Coco Cuba Beach Walk, (Issues, Food, Water, Power, More )

Been to Tryp twice, but way back when, long before Covid. It was great. When you go and talk to the people that live there, you learn a few things. 1) Tryp is right next to a huge agricultural part of Cuba, so their produce and food is pretty fresh. If the farms have it, you'll have it. Their hot water runs off of solar power, so if it gets cloudy, you'll probably have a cool shower that day. Everyone has always been nice, the food was great, the people are really nice. I haven't been back since covid, things can change, but it looks like they're keeping up the same patterns. Thanks for the video, I was checking it out before I went back. It's good to see the atmosphere hasn't changed. It's got a good mix at Tryp. There are kids, there are couples, there are people there to party, but you never feel crowded. If they still got em, the late night ham & cheese sandwiches were the perfect wind down food for the day.

Summer time is nice at TRYP Cayo coco is very nice and calm right now it's wavy but it's not good to come down on January Dec and even Feb.

Fantastic and helpful videos as always. We are booking a trip around Feb. 18th. Possibly for 11 days… somewhere in Cayo coco.. first time visit. Looking forward to it. We are not picky, high expectation people. Clean big walkable beach & resort, friendly faces, something edible to eat & it’s all good. Been watching all your videos, some several times. Soaking in all the visuals and info. But, not holding anything said, as a fact to happen when we arrive. Can’t wait! If anyone has any advice, thoughts for us. Feel free. Maybe bump into some fish-fanatics under the sun. Keep smiling!

Thanks for this video and the review video of Tryp Mike both were great. Hopefully when the Colonial is done with reno's you'll visit and do a review . Colonial has been my go to in Cayo Coco the last few years we love the staff and the resort but it did need some tlc and it's great to see all the work being done. This past November was suppose to be the 30th anniversary of the Colonial but repairs took precedence it looks like thankfully.

Love your videos Mike & Jenn. You are both great people. I visited TRYP Cayo Coco in December 1997 & it was about a year old at the time. It was new, modern, upbeat & the best place to go at that time in Cayo Coco & Guillermo. Cayo Cruz & Paradon weren't open back then, neither was Cayo Coco/Jardines Del Ray Airport, you had to fly Skyservice Airlines from Toronto into Ceigo de Avila Airport on the mainland which I did. Resort was full of Canadian & German tourists, with smaller groups from Britain & Italy. The Colonial Section was built circa 1993 I was told.

we were down there the same time as you :) We were at Gran Muthu Rainbow (we've been to Flamenco and Tryp also) Dec 14-21, 2023 and had no hot water (most of the resort) for 6 days, ran out of wine and cola a few times but came in either later the same day or next day. The food was decent (had eggs every day), and we still had a great time even with the weather. Always love your videos and hope to meet you guys some day :)

The first time I went to Cayo Coco was at the Colonial! It was amazing, calm (it was a 250 rooms I think). Next week I'll be at the Melia Jardines Del Ray, can't wait!!! I really go there for the beach and the people, I don't care if there is no soda or eggs 😂 I love your vidéos, thank you ❤

Hi Mike and Jen, thank you for all of the great videos. After years of travelling to Cuba we went back to Varadero in June of 2022 and experienced some disappointments so although I loved Cuba I was hesitant to go back but upon reflection none of the disappointments were really that problematic - more minor inconveniences. Your videos has really opened my eyes back up to Cuba and I can't wait for your new content to come out. I'm so excited to say that I got a fantastic deal this week and booked 7 nights direct from Halifax to Iberostar Ensenachos (which we visted in 2017 and LOVED) for $950 (which is unheard of out of the Maritimes). My husband and I played all your Ensenachos videos on our big screen and decided that yes 100% it was the place for us. Thank you both - hope to see you someday in the sun!

We were at Memories Caribe at the same time as you. There was some issues with hot water but really localized and they were fixing it. Pop was only thing that was readily available. Other than that no issue. I agree with you, how are these places stay open with these prices. But otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it. Going back in few weeks, not sure where. Daquiri is on my list of possible few options. I wish your video would come out before Friday when i am booking. Still looking forward to see the review. Enjoy.

The Colonial was the original Tryp Cayo Coco, I think it opened in 1992. It then expanded with the "new" section which is where you are now.

Hi Mike. We love your videos and watched them all prior to going to Varadero for the 6th time for our first Christmas there. We had the worst experience and I am not even complaining about the food or no pop, etc. We paid over 6 grand (2 of us) from Vancouver. I upgraded everything for a deluxe suite in an adults section of hotel. We had no working phones in room on 3rd floor for full trip, no elevator. We paid extra for 24 hour room service, nightly turndown, and dispenser bottles filled with alcohol. None of that happened. Also no coffee maker, no microwave, shortage of water. The hotel was over booked and we were never offered another room and they told us they were working on the phones. We find out day before we leave it will take a month to fix them. My hubby needs a hip replacement and I had a terrible cut on my foot, so this was not a nice experience. Also, hardly any wifi, sliding door was broken and then never locked once they fixed it. mold in room and broken t.v. which they replaced. No empty loungers at the pools or beach. We love Cuba and the people and beaches too. We always pay for an extra suitcase ($140) total and fill with gifts, medicine, toys etc. Perhaps, we will head to Cayo Coco next time. It looks beautiful. Keep up the great work with your videos.

The hardest part about travelling at Christmas is the amount we over pay for the experience!!!! Like i say at Christmas and other expensive times we typically over pay for the same experience!!!! i feel for you!!! all the best Mike

Hi Mike! Love the videos!!! We are heading to Flamenco Cayo Coco January 20th and took the Diamond Club option. We will be arriving 10:30 pm. I thought I saw in one of your videos that there was a cut off time for check in, but Diamond Club had an extension? I have watched your videos over and over to verify it but I cannot find where I saw that. (BTW you are welcome for the extra views on your videos LOL). Is there a cut off time for check in? I assume if we land at 10:30 we won't make it til midnight. Will that be an issue? Or will we have to spend our first night in the lobby bar? FYI that's not optimal, but not a game changer, either. The now Muthu colonial is currently under major renovations from what I’ve heard and seen. Rooms, bathrooms etc! This was my first trip in cuba back in 2010 and I can’t wait to see how it is when it reopens! It’s older than the Tryp but I’m not sure how old :) the colonial style is so beautiful!!
