I’m just coming back to Eloy after several years and just picked up Colours. I really like Floating, Planets, and Silent Cries best, but I’ll go back to check out Dawn once more. I still don’t have the debut or Time to Turn because they’re expensive. And Oceans might have become difficult too. I have been curious about Performance and Metromania. I’m interested in checking them out now. Nice work! I enjoyed your explanations and ranking.

Loved your video, Gordon! Have been an Eloy fan since '79...probably one of the most "underrated" bands in rock history! Amazing records! 'Time To Turn' is my personal favourite (for the amazing storytelling on the album) Planets No.2. (but could easily be interchangeable!). But, do love your ranking as well, and your passion for this fantastic band! 🤘😊 Cheers. 👍

I am in the same position of the guy that made a comment below me Mr. Putler… I began collecting vinyl about seven years ago, and only in the last two or three years have I discovered Eloi… I think this is a very comprehensive review, and the best one I’ve seen on this band… Very thoughtful and very insightful… Thank you for doing this… I definitely have to get all these 12 records. Im only missing about two of them at this point.

This band and Camel were the bands that introduced me and fully opened my mind to old progressive rock (after Mikael from Opeth talking about 70's prog all the time). Ocean is a masterpiece. I suppose I should crawl back out of my black metal rabbithole and listen to them again.

Glad to see Metromania get some love. While all of the 70s albums are my favorites, Metromania is such a cool little album and so underrated.

Thanks for doing this ranking of one of my new favourite bands. I started listening to them a year ago, and I I can only wonder, where the hell have they been most of my life. Considering that I have been a Pink Floyd fan for more than 40 years it is pretty late to discover them. Are you heavily into Floyd you surely will like them. Admittedly, the vocals you really have to get used to. Bornemann is having a very strong german accent, and for many that would be a turn off, but with the time yo get used to it and even kind of like it. My favourite is Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes, with Dawn as a close second.

1980 is avery interesting year for many prog bands and rock bands like Rush as you said because of the transition between two decades and the unique way they sound ...thanx for posting this ranking.... i discovered Eloy with "colours" and immediatly bought silent cries which is a little better...;-))

for me its Floating because it was the first i bought.. and hadn`t listened to much mainstream , mostly import no knowns!.. Time next ocean then colours.. Thanks for your ranking vid.. tangerine dream no way .. inside was about 6th,.. if bands keep doing same style they die fast.. performance was heaviest since the others. so big style change..

Very good ranking, I agree with almost everything, I just would ranked Metromania on a better position, it’s a very underrated 80’s lost gem, maybe because it’s synth oriented album, who knows… and Planets, despite being amazing, should be in nr 5, but this is just a matter of taste, congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Very good ranking, I just would ranked Metromania on a better position, it’s a very underrated lost gem, maybe because prog rock sounded really anachronistic in 80’s

Very frustrating band. When they rock they are great but there is way too much slow stuff.
