Last winter, on a friend's '07 Equinox, I had to disassemble the whole friggin dash to find a dead "blend door" actuator/motor (the reason she had no heat.) She was smelling antifreeze, so I went a little deeper to replace the heater core (it had pinholes in it.) Most shops charge $1500-$2000 for that job. -- It was a royal pain to disassemble. "Engineers" are purposely making U.S. vehicles more difficult to do "maintenance/repair." I have an '89 Jeep Cherokee that I am keeping roadworthy for as long as possible (doing 99% of the work myself.) If I ever buy another vehicle it will be another "older" vehicle or a Toyota. Subarus are great until they break down: they are "pain"-to-work-on vehicles. -- You might check out YT-channel "Scotty Kilmer"s videos on Buy/Don't-Buy tips.

Thanks and love the honesty. It is a quality that has gone right to hell in most service centers today you end up with a huge bill and it was totally unnecessary. The difficulty is finding a Garage that hoists your car up so you can do the work yourself, with a trained mechanic should you run into a problem. They have these in Toronto but not in the rest of Canada.

All they tell ya is what kind of fluid, not where the dipstick is located or how to get to it. the repair maunal is dead silent about anything involving the transmission checks, guess there is a reason for that, lol. Well the Dex VI is said to be good to 100,000 miles but I’m a bit old school and I still do my own vehicles every 30,000 or so.

Would be nice to have a lift but it can be done with any jack you just gotta be willing to do the work and get a little dirty. Save you a lot of money in labor fees. Obviously it would have been much harder and less informative video if he done it under the car with a regular jack.

installing first three bolts ,don't tighten them until you have the other larger one that secures motor in its hole.

Hello! Great video! Does this apply to the 2013 equinox as well? Or is the assembly different on the 2013?
@Tomsfoolery.
@Tomsfoolery. 4 жыл бұрын
Different. Yours will have a fill plug in the front side of the trans. It’s an 11mm bolt.
