We are in the deepest depths of the hole here. I think I’ll survive with the standard reissue 808.

I had this for a bit and it sounds great. I used it as a boost and to add some grit. Ended up selling it to a friend for a little bit cheaper cause I didn't want 350 tied up in a pedal. Then I bought it back from him after 6 or 7 months(should be here Monday). I'm going to keep it this time

Lol I'm the same way. I'm slowly re-aquiring all the gear I've sold in the last 30 years. Musicians are weird like that.

The very 1st comparison Paul did right at the beginning I thought the stock TS sounded better! Crazy how close these circuits all sound. I have a TS808hw & this Overdrive Pro stock one. I'm going to go ahead and get the $99 TS9 too, might as well build a collection of little green pedals!

The Jhs bonsai can be got for like 150 on sale at times and it has the 808 ts9 ts10 ts7 keely modded 808 and jhs modded 808 as well as the boss od1 … there are 9 different ts pedals in it , definitely one of my smarter purchases as I would also have been buying these pedals individually if I had not discovered it , I also have the max on Tamura mod and the apex 808 which I believe just takes the tamura mod and increases the clarity especially when used as a boost

I’m currently waiting for the fort in ts808 to get to my door , but the jhs bonsai is literally an instant ts collection for a little more than the price of one new or a little less on sale

For those that can't hear the difference, there's something wrong with your ears. I have (2) and original 1979 and 1980 mint TS 808, Analogman HW TS 808 with the vintage mod and the tamura mod is just plain killer, so is the TS9 get them while you can.

Hi is this Tamura mod pedal a faithfull recreation with Vintage specs of the original one from 1979 ? Thanks

I'd love to hear: (a proper comparison) of the: Maxon Apex 808 vs. Ibanez TS9 Tamura-Mod Tube Screamer. Does this Demo even exist?

Stock sounds better to me, I feel like it is more clear and dynamic. This mod sounds more compressed, which softens the attack. I feel like the capacitor changes just let more low end through which to me makes the tone muddy. One of the best characteristics of the TS808 is that it rolls off low end to focus the sound, which is why the stock sounds more clear to me. ICs do affect tone slightly, but have less of an effect with more components. Perfect example is a super simple circuit like the MXR Microamp. You switch the IC and you will hear a dramatic difference. For the TS808 the difference will be less noticeable. That’s my two cents, and I’ll stick with my stock TS808

I’ve got both and I prefer the stock. Here’s the thing, I’ve never played a boutique or modded version that sounds as good as a stock TS808, not once. I own lots as I love TS’s.

I have learned a big lesson in life.never sell a vintage pedal no matter what.just find a way but dont sell a vintage pedal.had a 79 ibanez ts808 narrow box sold it cheap.then 10 years later i paid 4 times the price to get it back.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣lesson learned.now i have a vox wah from 68 a boss od1 from 78 an ibanez od855 narrow box from 78 and the narrow box ts808 from 79 and an mxr distortion plus from 73 script logo.all have original boxes.and i should take the with me to the grave.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mmm Idk about comparing reissues and stuff and using same settings… I bet I can get that regular 808 to sound damn close to that modded one but not when they are set to same tone and gain..

Bought a used 808 for $130. Found the mod for the Keeley808. Modded it to Keeley spec. Saved myself hundreds. Players need to stop throwing money away when the resources are online for you to mod it yourself to save money. I am sure in months or years to come, you’ll find the schematic for this.

I just went with the jhs bonsai i got it during an Xmas sale at my lgs for 160 and for me that was the same idea it has the keeled and jhs mod built in as well as all the base ts pedals definitely a sweet little package
