The progress and development of Cagayan de Oro and Iloilo are almost at the same levl. Land and realty developments, service oriented and retail activities dominate economic and business landscape of both cities. But when it comes to the development of the river, Cagayan de Oro is many lightyears away from Iloilo City which had already developed the potential of the river as an attraction center and park. Iloilo city turned its riverside into an esplanade and park attracting its residents to it where they can jog, walk, bike or simply enjoy the fresh air. In contrast no mayor in cagayan de oro gives sreious consideration about the riverside and develope it into park or esplanade. This riverside boulevard is the project of DPWH. While Project Lunhaw is the idea of Sen. Koko Pimentel. At any rate both projects came too late compared to the park and esplanade in Iloilo which did the development of its river in the 1990s. No mayor in CDO did give importance of and value to what the river could offer and even the desiltation recommended by environmentalist was ignored.

Dont forget the JICA( Japan International Cooperation Agency ) who created the feasibility Study for the Masterplan of Flood Risk Management Project since 2012 after the Typhoon Sendong. But when it comes to quality of the River Dike/ Floodwall structure in CDO is much more better than ILOILO because of the technical aspect design where the river flow from upstream to downstream..Cagayan de Oro river and ILOILO River are different types of river. CDO is tributary, while ILOILO is estuary river or arm of the sea..

@@TripNiTonio Whatever the design JICA has of the river does not alter the fact that Iloilo came ahead of cagayan de oro in the developmemt of its river and that its mayors saw the potential of the river as tourist attraction which the mayors of cagayan failed to realize. The people of iloilo.have been enjoying its river while in cagayan construction of the riverside boulevard and the project lunhaw will take several years to finish. The types of the river do not matter The wisdom and foresight of the mayors are.

@@jeckyilogon9635 opinion ko lng po maam ha, kahit po may mga Mayor pa ng CDO noon na makagawa ng Esplanade or bike/jogging jan sa river bank ng Cagayan de Oro River ay masasayang lng din ang proyekto dahil masisira pa rin ng malakas na flashflood maraming mamatay jan sa gilid ng ilog..isipin po ninyo kung walang Bagyong Sendong nangyari noon 2011 na dumating sa CDO ay mas lalong marami pa ang Kagay-anon pa na delikado po yung buhay nila hanggang ngayon po.. kaya wag po ninyong ikumpara ang Iloilo River sa Cagayan de Oro River kasi never pa nagka.overflow or nagka.flashflood sa iloilo River kaya swerte nila po na Estuary River lng sa kanila bagay na lagyan ng esplanade ...then FYI din po maam hindi lng po Mayor ng Iloilo city ang nagpondo or nagpropose sa proyekto na yan kasama si Sen. Franklin Drilon na matagal na po naging Senador halos dalawang dekada na nakaupo sa Governo..hindi po kaya ng LGU na pondohan yung klaseng proyekto. Magpasalamat po tayo sa JICA dahil sa matagal na pagstudy nila dito sa River natin.

Tony, congrats for a video as clear as day. Pashoutout sa DPWH why the river boulevard narrowed down starting from montalban st. access? toward JR Borja bridge until City Hall. What is the wisdom? (wonder of wonders)

I think sa ako lng na opinion boss ha...murg ang land acquisition nila dha kilid sa jr borja bridge ug sa montalban area is 2 lanes -not for design sa mga heavy trucks na muagi sila..murg small & light vehicle ra allowed ra pwd maka.agi dha sir..and wla na labot sir from city hall to jr borja bridge ky part na sa Project Lunhaw dapita..
