Hey Zeos. You should ask them to send you Theseus. It is like All-In-One toobs Integrated Amp-Dac-Hp amp-Phono under 2000 euros. Those guys know how to do to Tubes. And the hp amp in that thing slays the 300 ohm Sennheisers

It's not just the fact they are tube amps but also the way they individually designed and planned the supporting circuitry, whayt class they selected that support the pre and power tubes, even how the transformer is winded, the gauge of the wire, what type of metal used, what kind of core they use, even the componet layout makes a difference, the type of resistors, capacitors, inindividual component tolerances will also slightly change the sound as well, even if you would get another set, they'll still sound slightly different, there is a lot there to make this amp sound as unique as it does, a sound signature is exactly that, even solid state equipment is like that, compare a bryston cubed series amplifiers " they make some of the best solid state amplifiers in the world, they have a 20 year warranty on their stuff and has absolutely insane specs" of you were to comapre that to a adcom gfa series amp, they'll sound different dispite being solid state, now for this example with tube gear, if you were to compare these300b greek tube amps to a mclintosh mc 75, or a lebon, luxman, audio nirvana, thoress... each of those amps would sound ENTIRELY different from one another but retain those luscious even order harmonics.... "you should really check out thoress and their 300b mono block, they have one of the most amazing designes i have ever seen in a 300b mono block, if ypu like that 300b sound you need to try them, as well as the jj 20 watt per channel 300b tube amp, its called the j 222 or something like that...

Is it necessary to balance the tubes as part of setup or are these auto-balancing? I may have used the wrong term but with high end tube amps don't you need to dick around with a screwdriver and some kind of meter to set them up correctly?

I find the difference in dacs to be heard more readily on speakers. The dave and Bartok are closer on headphones when I compared on my speakers the difference in soundstage were much more apparent. Zeos actually once said that there was a difference when he got the smsl vmvd1. He really should have the holo with speakers. Although he should get some highend speakers to be a reference.

See it that way, if Zeos says something makes a difference, it makes a BIG fucking difference. Nothing subtle. Some people with golden ears will spend 15 minutes explaining the difference between two Topping DACs. Some budget-oriented people will then spend 100$ thinking they'll buy a world of difference. No. Not at all. This is a problem. Zeos is the opposite, and that's why he's always been the king of budget audio. Bang-for-the-buck DIFFERENCES in audio. If Zeos, with his presumably not-golden-ears, talking about (now only) under 1000$ DACs, says X new DAC makes a difference, or OPAMPS makes a difference, you WILL hear it. The 1K$+ DACs are now left to review by other reviewers, and it's perfect like that.

Gr8 price & hum control are deffinately nice to have. Better vintage tube gear with simple (purist?) circuits most often had them but you rarely see them these days (they're still good enuf for much top-end gear) & ive heard them make a good diffence if &/or when hum gets noticed. Most tube-amp makers will probably tell you "our's will never need them, we got complicated circuits to do ...err, the same" Surely they weigh more than 4.5 Kg each (i'd had guessed closer to 12+ Kg each with adequate output & mains transformers inside) I wondered why the current meters are there when there dont seem to be an adjustable plate bias control like you normaly see... (often labelled next to a tiny hole above a trim-pot) ...& get on tube amps with current meters. Useful for trying s/h tube rolling if youre a roller

The most common explanation regarding the difference between tubes and transistors is that the the introduction of third order harmonics by transistors, versus the second order harmonics created by tubes. Third order harmonics are less pleasant.

Ozone for Winamp does a convincing real-time dsp tube effect. Unfortunately the dsp plugin is long discontinued and cannot be bought anymore because about 15 years ago Izotope realized they could package it as stand-alone mastering software and make millions off it.

Ok they may not be as bad as the low end of the brand but in their product category, there are frankly, which offer a much less cartoonish and exuberant sound, less tiring in the long run, less projected ...
