Tsiolkovsky Cosmonautics History Museum -Russia's Best

The world's first museum of the history of space exploration, the Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics (GMIK) opened on October 3, 1967 soon after Gagarin's famous first flight in space.
In addition to space artifacts, rockets, sputnik, planetarium and cosmonaut costumes, the museum has a large collection of documents including the Tsiolovsky archives.
It is the largest space museum in Russia with a collection of over 60,000 items, including artifacts from the United States and other countries.
Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky, scientist, inventor, and pioneer in rocket and space research, was born on September 17, 1857.
In 1892, Tsiolkovsky moved to Kaluga where he became a well-known scientist and wrote his theories of space flight and interplanetary travels.
Tsiolkovsky was one of the first to work with the theory of space travel. He identified solutions to a number of these issues now known as “Tsiolkovsky Formula,” a fundamental principle basic to astronautics.
